Why I could really give thanks for a thanskgiving

Let me tell you why my thanksgiving break was good.
I visited Cobb's home, in Ilian, upstate NY. Cobb is my boyfriend, we're in a satisfying and healthy relationship. Who knew they existed!
It was a little soon to be seeing his family in my mind, but visions of going home to see a skeletal sister opening and closing a fridge gave the option a little more pull.
I waited with my guitar until we decided to wait together at a high point which looks out over all to the mountains. It was so sunny out, and windy with just a hint of the chill to come. The smell of his skin and seeing his hair tossing in the wind; the feel of just sitting next to him and his warmth will always be with me- it was one of those bright memories that fades little.
His dad gave us a ride from the school; he was hilarious. We'd be going 80 and he's point out without looking.
"There's a deer." ..and there would be. I guess he's a retired hunter and UPS worker.
To bring a long story short, his mom was so warm hearted as well. For Christmas, she sent me and electric toothbrush, chocolate, oreos, and plaid pajama pants. I had mentioned at thanksgiving that the electric toothbrushes were an investment I wanted to make, I nibbled on oreos at their house, said I enjoyed chocolate, and pointed out how it was cute they all had plaid pj's without realizing the commonality. On a note she goes, "enjoy the gifts, and your christmas. Now you have a pair pf plaid pj's yourself, as one of the Cobb family"
Sometimes people don't realize the amazing things they've succeeded with in their daily lives, so I told the dad what a fabulous house he had. Surprised from intently washing dishes, he looked around, and agreed. I wanted him to realize from a different perspective, he'd done well.
I wasn't watched, or neglected...I didnt feel watched, or thus awkward/guilty bringing a fork to my mouth. No skeletal sisters. No judging brothers. They did have a nice backyard, though.
It was a warm and healthy house. Not perfect, but a breath of fresh air.
Thats why my thanksgiving was good.
