I'm so tired of people trying to tell racist and sexist jokes and think that they're funny. Okay, I'll admit some jokes make me laugh...but most are just plain mean and offensive. Hey, if Don Imus gets fired for making a comedic remark, then shouldn't other comedians get boot off stage for making similar comments too?
Just because you're Asian, what gives you the right to make fun of other Asians? If you're African American, what gives you the right to make fun of your own race? My professor was upset when he went into a gay bar and heard a queer gay making fun of females and transgenders. He had to leave the club before he got more pissed off. I would be too. My favorite comedian is Ellen Degeneres and Dane Cook. They hardly use racist or sexist jokes, instead they entertain their audience with clean true observations of the things we ignore.
I remember someone telling me that unlike Don Imus or other people who actually mean when they say racist/sexist jokes, comedians and poets have "art" behind their reason. I don't think it represents art at all, unless they're writers who are telling stories and pointing out the racism or sexism in our world today. If you want to make people laugh, then make fun of yourself without getting other people involved.

To me, comedy is a way of switching things up. I think its really good to be able to make a joke out of life...especially the things that we take so seriously. I think its horrible that some women are mistreated, but if a woman makes a joke about it...although in real life its not funny, I laugh because its nice to be able to laugh about something like that.
I dont k now if you can quite understand where Im coming from with this...but its not that some of these jokes are necessarily "FUNNY" its just nice to be able to laugh about them.
