The Happiest Place on Earth? I think not.

This Sunday was 4/20. I know that you all know what that is, so I need not to explain. While I think that is one of the stupidest "holidays" ever, I know quite a few people who participate. Sadly, many participated this Sunday, while we were in Disneyland. I love Disneyland, it is a place of innocence and joy. A place where I can be young again, be free and just not give a darn about all my adult issues and responsibilities.

Unfortunately, this weekend that joyful feeling was hindered by my friends abuse of drugs. They felt the need to get high while in a family environment, which in fact gives me a high all on its own. A high of happiness and excitement.

I really disagree with the use of drugs or alcohol in public, and especially Disneyland. I have a hard time understanding why people feel the need to do this while they are in "the happiest place on earth". Is this what our generation has become? We have resorted to publicly intoxicating ourselves for fun? I sure hope not. And I sure hope that you all don't "celebrate" 4/20, because all the people who smoke on that day, smoke every other day anyways. It is pointless.

I did not smoke on 4/20 and I agree that you should not have to get high for such an exciting place. Like you said the high is already there. This "holiday" is rather stupid except for pot smokers.

Now for the truth... I used to smoke pot on occassion maybe once a year. Back in my wild days it was more frequent than that... but I do not smoke anymore. I haven't done that in like 3 or more years. It makes me feel like I really am mentally handicapped. I would rather be totally aware of my surroundings and know what is going on around me.

Not all people who smoke on that day smoke all the time..because I have smoked once on that day. But I do agree that for some people that do smoke every year on that day use it often. Good point though. I think that drugs and alcohol are overrated and so it 4/20.

Well I used to be a complete stoner back in the day, when I was 16. I gave that up though, and even if I didn't give it up I wouldn't do it in Disneyland.

I was also when I was 16 that is rather strange.

Yeah even if I didn't give it up I still would not do it at Disneyland. I also believe it is not right to do in a family environment.

I am not a fan of getting wasted in front of the kiddies. But I have to say that stoned may be the only way I would survive a trip to Disneyland. I find amusement parks to be entirely too overstimulating. They actually make my head spin and leave me nauseous. I've got a touch of the ADD, though, so I'm easily overstimulated.

Haha, well that is how a lot of people look at it. I still think it is a family enviroment though, and it's inappropriate since there are little kids everywhere.

Isn't every Holiday stupid except to the people who celebrate it? I think
Easter is stupid, but to each his own. I sort of agree. While i don't see anything wrong with 4/20, I do think it is a little irresponsible to get totally stoned at Disneyland, just because of all the little kids (and their parents)

Well... it really isn't a holiday and that is why it is stupid. That is why I put it in quotes. People who think Easter is stupid probably have sort of religious views that conflict with Easter. It is just an excuse for people who already smoke, to smoke even more than usual.

But what makes something a holiday? Government endorsement? The holiday is in the eye of the beholder.

People who think 4/20 is stupid probably have some sort of anti-drug views that conflict with pot smoking.

Sorry for the long response time, but I see what your saying. The reason I don't like it is because usually a holiday is a day for something you usually don't celebrate. All the people who smoke on 4/20 smoke already, so whats the point?

I agree. There's no need to force views or smoke on others.

Everyone thinks only their holidays have reason. It's like a big pinata bashing orgy, and we're all covered in papier mache.

I adore Disneyland, and if I ever saw people visibly under the influence there I would report them to a staff person. It's really inappropriate to be under the influence at a family oriented place like Disneyland. I try not to cuss or do any sort of inappropriate PDA while I'm there; it's supposed to be a place where people can have some good, clean fun.
