Will we some day vote for political candidates on the internet?
Will this put an end to political rallies?
If this is allowed will it promote progressive principles?

The Internet has changed politics, election reporting and political fund raising,
even since the last 2004 election. it is more than obvious in the Presidential Election 2008.
Much Political Fund Raising Occurs on the internet already.
Moveon.org has become a great influence here in the democratic party at least.
I posted a political blog here and immediately received E-Mails
from Anne Coulter and Newt Gingrich conservative political figures.

Fox News has professional bloggers as consultants and contributers when appraising
election returns.
Blogs, Blogging and bloggers are a force to be dealt with.
Bill O' Reilly ( Fox News)not only has a body language blond on the show.
He has an Internet and blogging girl as well.
I personally have seen facilities for google and Web Md that look like bunkers.
Concrete buildings surrounded by Barb Wire etc. Yes Better Security than the White House.

Then there is the blog authority thing.
Every blog has an authority ranking.
Even this one.
It is a competitive thing.
But what if the US Government becomes the authority?
Please do not be shocked, Google has a deathstar location right out of star wars.
They kill websites there.
Some internet marketing friends have stated this to me.
They are millionaires, some very rich jerks.

My Teenage Daughter Asked Me today. Can you vote on the internet?
My answer was not yet.

A friend of mine "Matt Bacak" "30 yrs old" became an "internet millionaire"
by simply following his motto "take action" while he is on the internet.
Leveraging the internet for politics or business is powerful stuff.
Political Candidates have leveraged the internet to win elections and get out the vote

Can this future shock really happen?
The technology is there: the firewalls, the anti virus software and the spam stopping
We even vote on topics here at progressiveu.
What will stop us from having Presidential Elections on the Internet ?
What will stop us from voting on the Internet?

No. At least I hope this doesn't happen. Our lives are revolving more and more around the internet everyday but voting on the internet could not work. Fraud would be a major issue and easy for anyone interested.

It's already happening, to some extent. US Citizens living overseas were given the opportunity to vote in their primaries by submitting their votes online.

It is happening already, as you mention. Security and Hacking will not be an issue in the future. The risk of fraud will be less than the voting booth.
