Political Music You Should Hear #1: Ted Leo & The Pharmacists

It's Ted!
Ted has to be one of the most ingenious and ardent figures of political indie rock. He can be covering Kelly Clarkson one moment and change over to covering the classic Jam song "Ghosts" or sing his uber-catchy anthem for pacifism "The High Party". He loves to voice his opinions and lets you know that you're not the only one who feels oppressed in today's paranoid, post-9/11 society of twitchy people with SUVs and hybrid vehicles. From the first time I saw him and his arsenal-The Pharmacists-on Conan O'Brien singing "Where Have All The Rude Boys Gone?"...I knew that he could manhandle a political hand or two. And he's from D.C. even! This is a definite must listen for anyone who craves a change. Go to his website and let him know you care.

Since I'm weary of posting tracks by him(contest reasons) I'll point you in the direction of his amazing artistry and activism.

I've been listening to Ted Leo since the days of his popular mod-punk band Chisel. His new cd, Shake the Sheets (the most reminiscent solo album of Chisel) is a great album and is inspiring to see an artist take on politics and the culture war in his music. Bravo.
