"All men by nature desire Knowledge."

It was Aristotle who once said, "All men by nature desire knowledge." This very desire of knowledge motivates me to seek a path in which I have the ability to acquire an understanding that is greater then myself. Hence, I have chosen to attend college, a place where I believe ideas, wisdom, knowledge, and truth has the ability to formulate through the avenue of open minds and dedicated study. I do not attend college in the hopes of someday receiving a four figure pay check or a certificate that hangs in a dusty frame on my wall. Rather, I desire to attend college in the hopes that I will have attained the understanding that enables me to make the world a better place.

My summer missions trip to Nairobi, Kenya has reinvigorated my passion to learn so that others may also learn. Our success is not determined by the money that we make nor the amount of degrees we acquire; success is the ability to take our skills and understanding and apply them in teaching others. If wisdom and truth is hoarded and crammed into our brain, who is the better for it? It is in the application of our knowledge in sharing with others that allows the world to become a wiser place.

Many students today have lost the desire of knowledge that Aristotle spoke as being in our very nature. Unlike the tide of those who have no passion for learning, I cling to the precepts of understanding wisdom and truth. I appreciate this site where many are excited about learning, discussing current issues, broadening their viewpoints, and standing up for what they believe. We in turn need to infect those who have become apathetic and give them a reason to hunger for knowledge.
