education

William B. Yeats once wrote “Education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire.” That is what education should be, inspiring others to become a better person in every aspect of their life. By lighting that fire from within to burn so deeply that it drives that individual to reach for higher standards.
That is my goal as an educator. I want to preserve the culture of West Maui by teaching our children to think outside the box, to keep the traditions of Lahaina alive. I have lived all my life in Lahaina and it has something special to offer.
Lahaina’s close community offers so much tradition that we need to preserve that. As a Lahainaluna high school student, a group of friends and I hiked our way to the “L”. I realize that things happen for a reason and although our hike was challenging, it made me appreciate our town’s beauty. The view of West Maui was amazing. The hike taught me if you want something in life you must work your mind and body to reach your goal.
I want each child in Lahaina to have the confidence to work hard for their goals. I want to give back to West Maui by helping each child focus on learning Hawaiian History so they can respect our culture. I want children to realize that the island and our way of life are in their hands. I want to play a role in teaching everyone to understand that we must respect our land, resources, and each other so that West Maui can continue to be our home that it is.

Those are some nice goals. It was a great topic to blog about.

Just a little tip: Separate paragraphs with a space. It's easier to read that way.

It is true that now a days education is about making profit rather than teaching students what they need to know

Thank you very much! I love to hear feedback. This was used for a scholarship essay I was applying for.
