The fate of the Hubble Space Telescope will be decided later this week about whether or not it will be repaired so it can work for another decade or so , taking more pictures, of the solar system and the universe. NASA engineers are going to determine whether or not it is safe enough to send a crew of astronauts up to make some repairs, and replace some batteries, sensors, and other sorts of things. Some of the higher up officials think that it would be more important to finish the International Space Station instead of fixing the Space Telescope.
I think that it will be a sad day for the scientific communitity when the Hubble Space Telescope is no longer available for use. The telescope has provided us with so much information and pictures that have told us so much about the space outside of the Earth and the Moon. Especially the civilian population. Everyone now has access to information that scientists were the only ones to know about it, simply because the Hubble provided us with pictures that are just so fascinating to see and to wonder about.
PS. Astronomy Photo of the Day is one of my favorite websites. I've gotten lots of desktop backgrounds from there.
I think space exploration is something that should be considered for the future. It would be great to know what else is out there. But at the same time, I think that we should be spending all of that money on trying to fix things here on earth, like starvation and proper homes and nutrition for third world countries. And then once everything is right and good with our world, then perhaps we could go out and see what else is out there, and hopefully not mess it up in any way, shape, or form.

Space exploration, I think, is very important. The Hubble Telescope has done much good in the name of science...who know's what else it will be able to do in the next 7 years!?! We've already learned so much about space, but in the grand scheme of things, it's a minute amount. There's an infinite number of possible discoveries out there. There are also a lot of thing here on the earth that also deserve our consideration. Not only things like the environment, starvation, housing, and nutrition, but also things we have yet to discover or know very little about, i.e. all the creatures in the rainforests and deep in the sea that we don't even know exist.
