Nike: a fashionable, very popular amongst teens, and in hip hop.
Nike has a variety of products, the most popular one, being their sneakers. Teens wear them as a luxury item, and we've become so obsesses with them that we've started collecting them, and buying so many.
Real talk:
I live in Brooklyn, NY, and most teens here basically begin earning cool points, popularity, or wateva u want to call it, because of their clothes. Nike is a very popular brand, that we constantly see everyday, on TV, billboards, and being advertised on our peers feet.
Lets just put it this way, if you don't own at least two pairs of Nike's, or shoes more expensive, your basically a no body.(not my view)
The more expensive the item is the better you will be at getting noticed, and making friends, and truthfully i don't understand why some teens would go through so much to afford these material items, when they barely have enough to eat lunch. Little do they know Nike's ARE MADE IN SWEATSHOPS!
we know our clothes are made outside the U.S, but what difference does it make?
Poor people are being ripped off to work in factories that pay them lower than minimum wage. Barely enough to take care their families in other words.
In The movie The Corporation the owner of Nike said that he ain't even know they were made in sweatshops, and her never went to visit one either.
THIS IS TRUE FOR MANY OTHER U.S COMPANIES!
So Wat does this mean,
1. We're paying $100 for sneakers that were made by hand for 1 dollar
2. People are being treated unfairly, and we're advertising it.
3.More people in the U.S could possibly have a job, if Nike manufactured in the U.S.
4. Most U.S owned businesses only care about money, not the people.
I too was once a Nike fan, until i learned about this. SO if you think this is unfair, and wear Nike, you wouldn't advocate their actions. there are companies that are sweatshop free. For example American Apparel.

Nike, Adidas, Reebok, New Balance, Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, pretty much everything in Walmart... the list goes on and on. Quite possibly the majority of popular brands either currently use or have used sweatshop labor in making their products. If you don't want to support this, do your research and try to buy products made in the US or Canada.
Yeah, I certainly don't want to support something that involves sweatshop or child labor. But usually, I'm too misinformed to know the difference. Usually I buy the best deal. I'm not particular to any brand.

Mind Control is Easier Than You Think
It's really hard to stay on-top of which company uses sweatshop labor... perhaps it's even impossible to always know for sure.
