Hawaiians had a rude awakening this morning. According to news hundreds of people are being evacuated because of possible aftershocks predicted to last weeks... yes weeks. The earthquake caused much fear of possible tsunami's but according to the Pacific Tsunami Center, no tsunami will rise from the earthquake.
The earthquake was 10 miles north-northwest of Kailua Kona and caused major damage to many bridges, roads, and buildings. Power outtages and damage to water pipes was also caused, leading to no electricity and floods within hotels. The use of phones was possible but very difficult. Hawaii hadn't experienced a strong earthquake in twenty years.
