Why does everything have to always change?

Life always has its ways for turning you life upside down. Why does it need to do that? Why do friendships have to change? Why do people have to change?

Whenever you just begin to understand and get a hold of you life everything you know, or thought you knew, gets swirled up, screwed up and spat right back at you. You take a minute to adjust, process what just happened and then start again from scratch. This happens in almost every area of life. Whether it’s a relationship gone wrong, or right, getting fired from work or even just a friendship group change but no matter what it is, it always seems to hurt, even just a little.

During my lifetime, all 17 years of it, I have only had 3 brilliant years of it. Obviously I have had plenty of brilliant moments but there are only 3 years that I can look back on and say that I was truly happy, ages 8, 12 and 15.
When I look back on it all I can see that after those years everything just when down hill. I suppose it’s the wheel of fortune system, as quick as you are at the top the quicker you’re at the bottom.

There is a solution to this of course. Never be happy, ever. But that is just impractical. I suppose that we need to learn to adapt to the changes in our lives and allow them to help us grow stronger in mind and attitude. It still doesn’t detract from the fact that you just lost your job or got pregnant at a really inappropriate time, but it’s the hope that keeps up alive. If there weren’t any rough patches in life how could we identify and truly feel the happy times?

Buddha says that all life is suffering. The root of all suffering is attachment. Therefore, the only way to avoid suffering is to avoid attachment. Since life is about attachment, and there is also no happiness without attachment, we must also accept the suffering. Unfortunately.

The thing I live by is everything happens for a reason. Bad things make us stronger and able to handle other things that come up along the way.
