Not really. But I thought that would be a catchy title. For those of you who haven't seen it, the GOP released a little "commercial" of sorts urging people to vote on November 7th. Now encouraging voters is an admirable thing, but it's everything that comes before that in the video that bothers me.
If you haven't seen it you can watch it here: http://www.gop.com/MultiMedia/MediaPlayer.aspx?Id=1136
Basically it shows little video clips of Osama-bin Ladden and a man who I found out is named Ayman al-Zawahiri. It shows also little clips of things they have said...once...I also found that one of their little snippets is eight years old! So basically the US has know about these guys and that they want to get rid of the Americans, but yet they still can't find either of them. But that's beside the point.
This ad uses scare tactics like dwelling on the words "Kill Americans" and "Suitcase Bomb" to frighten people into voting Republican. Personally I think resorting to scare tactics to win an ellection is sinking pretty darn low. It's also a really desperate thing to do. While most people I know will probably think this is a silly ad, there are a lot of people out there who are suceptible to this kind of advertising. I feel like it's taking an unfair advantage of people to put out an ad that basically says if you don't vote for us, we're all going to get blown up by terrorists.
The ad was originally planned only for use on the internet. Because of its popularity, however, they are now going to run it on television. I hope people see through this little ruse. I hope they will then respect the democrats a little more for not resorting to such dirty tricks.
I got some of my information from:http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Bin_Laden_terror_imagery_focus_of_1019.html
The rest of my info was from an MSNBC news broadcast.

Geez. Scare tactics are bad. But they also happen to be effective so they are not going to go away.
If this makes people vote, then great, though I don't see how voting will end terrorism or how this video will necessarily cause people to vote for Republicans. From the way this commercial portrays al-Qaeda, stopping suitcase bombs and becoming ninjas would be the most effective anti-terrorism actions.
Good one. I think they were showing video clips of terrorist training camps though. If everyone in the US became a Ninja, I think our problems would be solved.
