The other night I was talking to a friend, and this friend has great grades, has had a hard childhood, and with this you think that they would have a lot on knowledge and a great opinion. I personally am mixed race, (African American and Caucasian) and I have never looked at race to decide a relationship or friendship or anything like that. But anyways, one day my friend was talking about how he doesn’t like seeing people of one race having a baby of another. I sort of found this offending. I always have wanted to adopt a child from another country when I get older and feel it is right.
This just sort of made me think of if this country and world is really as over racism as we thought. We all know there is a lot of predigest and racism out there still, but do we really understand how much there is, and how close it really is. At my school, there is racial separation; the African Americans hang out with African Americans, Whites with whites, and Asians with Asians etc. There are also gangs that go by races. People in history worked hard to have equal treatment for people of all races, and I think that people not only of youth but people in general forget about that.
Many people ask me which race do I like being better, and I never answer that question, because I am who I am, not my race. A lot of my friends totally understand that and feel the same way. This is the positive attitude I think everyone should have. We should all be blind to races, because looking at somebody or judging somebody by their race makes no sense and isn’t fair. When children are you, they are all friends; they don’t care about race, gender preferences, nothing like that. But as people get older, we learn things from those around us, and apply it into our everyday life, whether it being a good lesson or bad. We have also come up with this insane stereotypes, like that all Black people like chicken, or Chinese people are cheap and only eat rice, and we cant deny that we have herd these stereotypes and worse. The only way to help this, is go watch what we say ourselves, and be blind of outward appearances or race, because weren’t all men created equally?

I don't think our country will ever be over racism. It will always be there in some form or another, unfortunately.
Great blog!
