Leggings, in or out?

A recent fashion trend has left me in confusion. For the gentlemen who don't know what leggings are, leggings are any of several sorts of fitted clothing to cover the legs. Originally leggings were two separate garments, one for each leg.

In contemporary usage, leggings refers to tight, form-fitting trousers that extend from the waist to the ankles; in the United States, they are sometimes referred to as tights (although the word tights is often used to refer to opaque pantyhose). Modern leggings are typically made from a blend of lycra, and either nylon, cotton, or a cotton-polyester blend. However, leggings can also be made from wool, silk, and various synthetic fabrics as well.

Leggings are they in or not?

I understand they are retro and retro is in, but they look UGLY on certain people who can't pull then off because they have chubby leg and on skinny legs they look cute,, but sometime even on nice slender legs they look wrong. I see some girls at school with nice legs wearing leggings but they look ugly because it was worn under a really really mini skirt.

so does this mean leggings are in, but is just a really bad fashion treand?

I am afraid the leggings would be just like the guancho pants trend. (ps i thought the guancho pant trend was a horrible ugly mistake for many girls trying to keep "in fashion"). the guancho pant trend skyrocketed last season, but sadly crashed and burned by the next, when every girl realized that guancho pants are ugly!

Ladies, Please comment and help me with this "leggings trend". & Gentlemen, please comment too about your opinion. THANKS Y'ALL :D
