Do you sometimes think that little things such as Facebook, Myspace, Xanga, and other related blogs/sites have affected us greatly?
Everyday, you can survey all your friends and ask them these questions:
1. Do you have a facebook account? Do you have a Xanga Account? Do you have a myspace account?
2. How many times do you go on the site a day?
3. How many hours do you spend on the site?
4. Do you chat with your friends that way?
There will be at least 90% of all your friends responding to having a facebook account. About 99% would say they use to have a xanga. Ninety-five percent would probably say they have a myspace account. These are all facts that you can find amongst a population
If you continue on to the last few questions, you will be more amazed by the answers. Your friends would probably say they go on these sites EVERYDAY and that they spend hours on ends playing with the site by blogging, by chatting, by listening to music, checking on their friends live, and so forth.
We can say that Facebook, Myspace, Xanga, etc has taken over our lives. Those who do not own one seem to be outcasted or looked down upon. These people in a week suddenly have an account present on these sites and it makes you wonder: Why did they sign up so suddenly? The answer is simple: They want to stay with the crowd, no matter how hard it is. They make one, leaving it there until there are uses for them. It really questions WHY they make one and wasting a name on the site.

interesting... i have a myspace and a facebook, but i usually just get on to add someone or to check to see if someone wrote me. most people i know just use them to share pictures and whatnot. facebook is probably the best because it is more organized and you can do more with it in terms of networking. at times, it really can be useful. for example, my best friend's sister wanted to make a slideshow with pictures of him to show at his funeral and since she didnt have very many recent pictures of him with some of his friends she was able to find everything she needed on there. facebook and myspace aren't all that bad! i think xanga is just for drama though.
True xanga seems to b for drama and all....most people post up alot of dramatic stuff
on facebook...you cant even have privacy! everyone knows what you're doing! but it is good for networking
myspace is another networking place but more closer to high school students....
but seriously.....people take these sites as fashionable places...that's all......i dunno i'm against fashionable things for some reason -.-
You can have complete privacy on Facebook if you choose. I have it set up so that only a few things I do are posted. If you don't want people to know what you're doing, then don't post about it in the first place.
Facebook is the only one of the above I have, and I check it frequently, mostly out of boredom. It's also interesting to see what my friends halfway across the country are up to.

I have facebook, myspace, and xanga...
The first time I heard of facebook, I wasd in college, and I like how I stayed connected with all my friends, even with the ones from high school, and I do enjoy posting and reading the wall writings, and I like looking at their pics...
For Myspace, I joined because my friend asked me to, and it is more disorganized and harder to find people. I like their features, like music and shows that you can watch, like prison break~
And I agree that xanga is used for drama, because it's like, u r revealing ur personal life to the public, and sometimes ppl get very poetic and emotional (in some cases I have)
I just think that these sites are a huge communication medium for young people today. I am 28 years old, so many of my friends have myspace pages, but a lot of them refuse to maintain an account because they feel like they are too old for this sort of communication method.
Still when I see certain friends, instead of saying "I'll call you later" or "text me," I sometimes just ask them to "send me a Myspace."
Weird!
Yes it's a bad thing that so many people go on facebook, xanga, myspace,etc.... but it's also good for communitacating. My mom found her friend in myspace after not seeing or hearing from eachother in 13 years.
I think it's good to have a myspace or a xanga just don't over do it.
I have a lot of friends that don't have any of them. They see it as pointless.
I have never had a xanga account, and I don't know of anyone in real life that has.
