I am part of the 12:01 arts collective in the coachella valley. We encourage people to buy less, create their own things, reuse, question authority, and be artistic. We have a few different zines since we have branched out from the Coachella Valley into the Santa Cruz area. Any of which can be mailed by request to a reader for free ( we'd be honored!). I've decided to post on different DIY instructions that might help someone out on profressive U. The question however is, is that really progressive? Well most of these crafts are low impact and have a bit of an anti-consumerist undertone. I feel that in a nation emersed in debt becuase we have to keep buying, the youth is responsible for changing that trend. Buy what you need or want but not in such disgusting amounts. Do we really need as much as we have, including the debt. Save for whats important. Also save the planet a little stress by using less resources. Crafts are also very stimulating, its very impowering and self satisfying. I have posted directions on how to make dreadlocks, as i used to have them until recently. I plan on posting on topics such as : simple zines, stickers, hemp jewelry, dreamcatchers, silk screening, stencils, incense, sewing, reusing old clothing, and much more.
