Living on this great country America, I often wonder what our society really consists of today. Do we really have a reason to be proud of our society? Im losing track of the celebrities that go into rehab. "I am an alcoholic, starve myself, and take to many pills." Is that really what kids today should be looking up to? What really irritates me is the former Miss USA, Tara Conner. She took dirty pictures and did some cocaine knowing that people all over America are watching her every move. "Oh shit, I got found out and might lose my crown!" You know what I would like to say to Ms. Conner tough shit! Open your damn eyes and see what is really going on in the world, who cares about your stupid crown and Americas ideal women. Take a look at whats going on. Lets see...global warming, wars, poverty, aids, and the list goes on for days. What Ms. Conner is worried about is a crown, she needs to be thankful for what she does have and stop crying about it. Look at Tyra Banks. That women is a wonderful role model! But look what she gets in return. " Tara Reid gains 30 pounds!" You know what the girl still looks amazing. Shes human, everyone gains weight. I would love to see the people who mocked her weight. What about our school system every year it gets harder and harder to graduate as the requirements change. I think high school is a joke!! We take all of these stupid tests to see if we are proficient in whatever class. Well not everyone is good at every subject. We shouldn't have to take math, and science tests to tells that we can graduate, but that is what its coming to. Why not let the students take classes they are interested in so they figure out what they want to do in life and lower the standards a bit. Well thats all I have to say right now. But do you really think our society is all it is cracked up to be? I dont!

True, we are very backwards. We work hard in school to get to college to get a good job, all the while admiring Paris Hilton and Kristin from Laguna Beach, because the world was given to them and they don't know what to do with it. These drunk party girls are idolized by 10 year old's! We need another Michael Jordan, who worked for every thing he got, not another set of Olsen Twins, who made billions in their teens hiring K-Mart to make clothes and makeup for them.
Society has gotten the priorities backwards in a big way and it is pathetic. I don't give a flying flip what Paris Hilton or Britney Spears or any other celebrity is smoking, or drinking, or whatever. I do, however, care that those ignorant souls are being idolized and emulated by children. When exactly did the Paris Hilton's of the world start replacing the Mother Teresa's, the Marie Curie's, and the Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard's of the world? And why is it okay with society that that has happened?
It's past time for us to stop complaining, however, and start doing something about it. We recognize that a problem exists and we have no qualms about bitching and ranting and raving about it... but how many of us are actually doing anything at all to change it?
