Briteney Spears cut her hair and everyone says she's lost it. What does that say about our society? That we are so obsessed with appearances that the second a famous person jumps from our narrow view of what they should look like, we say they are nuts. Put yourself in Briteney's position. She's been told what to do, how to dress, how to act, how to talk, what to sing and how to dance since she was a young girl. She gets famous and the pressures to uphold an image that the media and her producers have projected on her become more and more intense. Everything she does is under a microscope, with teenage girls and parents and record companies and TV channels all looking on with their eyelids cemented to the looking glass. Not a life I would wish for anyone.
So one day she wakes up and sees her image in the mirror, but it doesn't fit how the image that is her. So who is she? Suddenly, she has a flashing moment of realization-she's not living her life, she's living for all those who stare at her the second she leaves her home. She needs to find out who she really is and now is a better time than wheen she's 50. So she tells herself she's going to take her life back, she's gonna give those obsessive stares something to look at alright. She's liberating herself from the clenches of the pop culture vulture that sucks life from everyone involved. I am proud of her. I used to think she was a tool and she was, but after doing what she did, she has earned some respect from me. As a woman, shaving your head takes courage. To be a famous woman that has always fit the constructs of the ideal woman, what Briteney did was couragous indeed.
Good for her. All of you who are hating on her, take a look at yourselves and ask yourself why do you feel the way you do towards her. You might find something out about yourself.
Briteny Spears Liberated

I am so glad to see that someone else has shares my opinion on this matter. I actually thinks Britteny looks good with the bald head. Everyone is acting so highschool about this whole thing.
More power to Britteny!
I'm not so concerned with her hair choice as with her turbulant style of divorce, marriage, and child-rearing. I would suggest strongly that until she can prove herself to be a more responsible adult-staying sober and clean for at least 6 months-that CPS be given custody of the children.
I'm not so sure why we're so amazed about her shaving her head. Yes, as a celebrity, her appearance is key, but is it newsworthy?
I honestly couldn't care less whether she was doing it for the attention (if she was, then she has succeeded!) or for the sheer fact that she wanted to make a statement. I'm not particularly fascinated by celebrity's lives.
I think that this does show that being famous is not always a good thing. If you ever watch those shows that saw that "so and so" has a drinking problem because he/she was a child actor, it all makes sense. Yes, they are pressured to be something they are not before they are able to even make their own decisions about their lives.
Britney was molded at a young age, and I do kind of feel sorry for her.
...the title made me think of Britney Spears parading around sans underwear. x.x
Cure heterosexuality!
I just shaved my head three days ago. Because I wanted to. I don't care how it looks.
I never really thought much about the head-shaving, as a I rarely think about things concerning Britney Spears, but if she did have the intentions you expressed her. Then that is an extremely admirable act. I'm just hoping it's not another Charles Manson-esque head shaving fiasco.
I think this was a cry for help. She is under a lot of pressure. That was her breaking point. After she did it, i know she had some regret because she did start to cry and mentioned that her mom would be upset. I just hope she gets her act together cause I really think because of all the pressure she could end up like Anna Nicole. And that would be really sad.
Think Monroe, Hepburn, Kelly, Sinatra, Truman. Oh god, truly think how glamourous they were because they kept their private lives just that... private. It would be a real change to like someone for their skill in their craft versus playing into attention on what Beyonces diet is and Britneys hair. Could we please get back to that I truly miss it. By the way Monroe was a size 10 by todays standards, lets think on that.
Let's forget the fact that she's been out of rehab several times now. She didn't shave her head to make some kind of statement. She shave her head because she's a crack addict and said she wanted her mother out of her hair.
I have no sympathy for Spears. Really, I think it's karma catching up with her. I don't hate her. I just think she has been an embarrassing role model for young girls and, besides that, an thorn in the side of the music industry, for too many years. Musicians who do drugs are not new. But I don't like the trend of having hoars that pass as true artists.
If she shaves her head, so what? We shouldn't reserve air time on CNN for that. I'm tired of hearing about it. Let's hear some real news.
Most of the news out there is not real news. i agree with you. I don't consider her to be an artist. I was more using her to get a point across about how obsessed our culture is with celebrities and apearances in general. If someone wants to shave their head, who gives a shit, right?
Peace, Ben Dayton
First and foremost, I would like to make it crystal clear that I am and have always been Britney's fan. I always saw her for who she was. Aside from the fame and fortune, please understand that Britney is a strong woman. 2nd, I would like to put into propective for you what is really going on. Yes, there are people in Britney's life that just don't give a damn, and then there is kevin. Someone who I felt was all about her from the begining. Forget who you think she should be with and understand that he really loves her. Britney likes rough necks. 3rd, my girl is suffering from an illness we know as PostPartum Depression. She had two children only one year apart. give her a break. She is and will always be more than a woman in my eyes.
Live long, Stay Strong and Prosper Brit
Right on, man.
I think she's got guts.
