a change of history

As I am watching Fresh Prince of Bel-air for the thousandth time, I come to think on the subject at hand that they are speaking of. Which is, questioning why black history isn't taught in their school.

While I agree that African American/Black history should also be taught in history class from elementary and up, I also feel that all races should be in the history books, at least 2 chapters on each one.
If we are to learn more about the history of all people, instead of just about Indians, Whites, Blacks, Jews, etc. then we may understand the world of the people we call terrorists and what not.
Just as whites were to blacks, we are still just as ignorant to people such as muslims, israelites, hungarians, africans, etc.

If we are to make a change on our history teachings, through race and religion, then maybe our children will learn to be more open minded, and understand that even though they do have good/bad lives that things could change in the matter of seconds, just as they do in the third world countries that not too many people even know exist.

If you have kids and you are home schooling them, then this may be an option, because I know that school systems aren't going to change their books out of no where, for they are too bias towards the even thought of change.

I really love that show.but i agree and i have felt for a long time that the schools do not teach enough about other races like they should. Yes the african americans are important just like the hispanics and jews and everyone else.Everyone has a place in history.

Short, sweet and to the point. This is a great blog. I haven't even thought about the lack of education about black americans in schools! Wow. Thank you for bringing the idea into the light for me.
You are right that just like, indians, and chicanos...black americans should have their history placed in the United States cirriculum requirements. Especially they have so much history with us. (Ie. Slavery, Martin Luther King, and Martin Luther King Jr.) Furthermore, the United States could make modern history with Boraco Obama running for president.
Hmm..I wonder what the reason is for the lack of Black Hisotry within national schools.

to your last question.

my answer: racism and lack of change. Just as bad as using the same gas guzzling vehicle for 30 years, knowing that there is a problem that exist, but you're too lazy to change, even though it might make things better for you and others.

but it is up to them to figure that out."

I commented the same comment to someone else who said the same things about the article I posted because you and himORher apply to the same concept of the comment. =) (If that is alright with you.) I don't want you to think that I am sending the same comment to everyone. Just you and herORhim. =D

Wonderful! I am glad you had the opportunity to realize what time really means. Learning experiences hit people at different times, and I am glad that we were fortunate to learn it young. =)
