You know how we all complain and whine that we don't feel good, or that we hurt somewhere? Don't you find it annoying when one person continually complains, to the point where you just want to tape their mouth shut? When people complain about aches and pains, they don't seem to realize that within some period of time, they won't even remember that pain... in most cases. I do realize that there are medical conditions as to where, pain may be the only thing a person knows, like Lupus (see DrifterDani6886 for more information on that particular disease).
However, this isn't the case for most people, and for those who are lucky enough to not be inflicted with such a horrid disease, we should be praising the lord (or whoever you do or don't worship) that we are healthy, that we don't feel the pain others do. If you really think about it, the aches and pains we feel for one day, or perhaps a week or so, after a while, we forget how we felt and move on. So what's the point of complaining about it?
I may not know much, but it seems to me, the people who are actually excruciatingly sick, are the one's who don't complain. Now, they have the right to complain, but they choose not to waste their time or breath on such a fickle action. So why can't healthy people see the intellect in that and shut their traps? We should be thankful that we can walk, run, pick things up, breath easily, everything!
Sure if someone asks how you are feeling, you could say that you feel like crap, but you don't have to go into a detailed list of what exactly is wrong. Just give the basics, if you are questioned further. You don't have to tell a friend that you are vomiting violently, you could just say yeah, I've been puking. Not complaining would open so many doors for people, because they would then have the energy for something other than that of complaining.
Once out in the real world, saying my back hurts, I have a migraine, or I don't feel good, it's not going to cut it. We can't just skimp out on work or other duties because we don't feel like getting up. However, if you are extremely sick, well then, you should go to the doctor's. I'm not trying to say if you are deathly ill, or are contagious then suck it up and go to work. If it's bad enough, go to a doctor's, but if it's something that happens everyday, like a migraine, well, you'll have to push through, because the economy and your work place won't wait for you.
You know, we could learn a lot from the people who are sick. Some of them seem to actually manage their time quite nicely. If you have ever read the essay "The Spoon Theory" you'll see what I mean. If we could just learn half as much of what they do with their time, this world would be a lot more productive, and may be falling apart a little less quickly.

Is the spoon theory the one about however many spoons of energy you have that day? Sorry I'm not waxing more poetic, but I'm running out of spoons. :-)
Overall I agree with you here. Good job!
I think that people with chronic pain don't complain as much because we're used to it.

Agreed, Leslie. I have nerve pain so I can fully relate. After awhile, it just is, but mine is not as bad as some consistently at this time. Hang in there.
