Interesting... Wanna compare Chinese news versus Ours?

I found this amusing!

Now I know you probably can't read the stories on these teensy graphics (just go to the sites, however), so I've removed all of the advertising, gossip, sensational news stories, and other cruft.  Let's take a look again:

China:

USA:

So, when you think about who is being censored, consider that a market-based system really isn't so hot for communicating important news to a population.  You can substitute Xinhua with BBC and the results will be exactly the same.

Yay for free presses that only report sensational non-issues!

Yay for censored presses that can still produce citizens aware of the worlds happenings!

Sort of scary eh...

Oh well, like I can talk-I don't think i've seen a real news show(other than Jon Stewart) in quite a few months...  and though i cruise the homepages for the media outlets sometimes... I already knew to take it with a grain of salt.

It just amuses me how we've been trained to look down on them FOR censoring google, yet our own isn't exactly the "free"est media outlet ever...

It's like the newsweek magazine around the world saying 'Losing Aphganistan" while ours has some photographer's life story on the cover. I don't even know that person or care.

Yeah, that was pretty pathetic when newsweek did that...

I couldnt find the picture that seeing htis comparison made me think of, of Bush making an idiot of himself while visiting china(i think he coudlnt' find the doorhandle)

It just struck me as amusing that for such a "superior" person, or culture, that we are LESS aware than THEM!

At any rate, i still want that picture... hehe

Dear Congress:

"It seems the best way to ensure prosperity in this country is to run for office, said B.L. in Michigan: "I wish like our members of Congress, I could supposedly work 80 days out of the year, vacation the rest of the year and still get a substantial raise, health benefits and a nice retirement package. If they had to eke out a living like most of us Americans, they might decide to cater to their constituents rather than the lobbyists and big corporations."

quoted from Lou Dobbs new book War on the Middle Class. This quote says it all about our arrogant Congress. Not about Iraq, but a letter that I think pretty much summarizes the public's 20% approval rating for Congress.

Excellent quote...

I hadn't heard anything about that book though... I suppose I got preoccupied with Woodwards...

11 U.S. troops killed as Ramadan attacks mount
With 70 slain, October on pace to be deadliest month in two years

Updated: 11 minutes ago

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP)- Eleven more U.S. troops were slain in combat, the military said Wednesday, putting October on track to be the deadliest month for U.S. forces since the siege of Fallujah nearly two years ago.

The military says the sharp increase in U.S. casualties — 70 so far this month — is tied to Ramadan and a security crackdown that has left American forces more vulnerable to attack in Baghdad and its suburbs. Muslim tenets hold that fighting a foreign occupation force during Islam’s holy month puts a believer especially close to God.

As the death toll climbed for both U.S. forces and Iraqi civilians, who are being killed at a rate of 43 a day, the country’s Shiite-dominated government remained under intense U.S. pressure to shut down Shiite militias.

Some members of the armed groups have fractured into uncontrolled, roaming death squads out for revenge against Sunni Arabs, the Muslim minority in Iraq who were politically and socially dominant until the fall of Saddam Hussein.

Signs of strain
There have been growing signs in recent days of mounting strain between Washington and the wobbly government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who felt compelled during a conversation with President Bush this week to seek his assurances that the Americans were not going to dump him.

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari on Wednesday blamed American officials who ran Iraq before its own government took nominal control for bringing the country to the present state of chaos.

“Had our friends listened to us, we would not be where we are today,” Zebari said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Asked which friends he was referring to, Zebari said:

“The Americans, the Coalition (Provision Authority), the British. OK? Because they didn’t listen to us. The did exactly what they wanted to do. ... Had they listened to us, we would have been someplace else (by now), really.”

Oy. What're they gonna call this one? another "surprise rash of violence?"

Admit it people, we screwed up BAD and hundreds of thousands of people, American, adn Iraqi are dying for it. Yeesh.

It seems like every day year teh news articles have said ",.,, more dead in heaviest (day, weekend, month) of bloodshed since (yesterday, last year, first invasion)

disturbing. No wonder the media doesn't call attention to this...

Soaries was appointed by George W. Bush as the first chair of the
commission created by the federal Help America Vote Act in the wake of the
2000 presidential election debacle. In the interview, available for the
first time, Soaries excoriates both Congress and the White House,
referring to their dedication to reforming American election issues as "a
charade" and "a travesty," and says the system now in place is "ripe for
stealing elections and for fraud."

Yet another rubber stamp committee kept from REALLY helping.

Oh well, hopefully we're more aware now, to recognize fraud as it happens...

You're all taken care of with your registration and such? I got my ballot in the mail, but i reallly wish thye'd call or something when its counted cuz i just dont trust it to REALLY be counted... Darn being in another state than the one i am registered to...

Whats a girl to do?

Who else is talking about election fraud nowadays... I saw some stuf about possible voter roll purges, but have you heard anything?

Its gotta be better to think of it now, than after another stolen election...

OMG i nearly cried reading that!

Totally accurate...

Plus, i'm a history geek...

BUt that same issue has been bugging me for a while, probably because most people nowadays dont know what habeus IS....

What do you think will happen to that act? Will it be declared unconstitutional by the courts, or revoked by a democratic congress, or will we see MORE abuses because of it? What do you think fox?

Wow... I hadn't seen that!

On the whole, I agree with Clinton, and i think he's a great speaker- not to mention that he respected the Constitution much more than his follower... hehe...

Has he had any good comments regarding the Military Commissions Act? Its probably too soon and t oo sensitive, but i'd be curious to know his thoughts... well, also on torture, iraq violence, north korea...

Basically, I'd love to see him analyze Bush's foreign policy nation by nation...

But what else has Clinton been up to lately?

unbiased!) Take a look at the picture in the oval office.

Egads. Can you say "STAGED"?

Its totally pathetic that he doesnt talk to teh WHOLE press that way... you never know, maybe we ARE all a bunch of liberal meanies who are wrong about him!

But stunts like this don't make it look like he respects either the press, OR The people who look to the press...

I did get kinda a laugh about the whole "dog scratching at teh door" moment... I dont want to know how many puppy paw marks are on the white house doors... I wish i had a statistic for how many presidents have had dogs...LOL

Talkabout easily distracted.

McCain is so self-serving! He backed away from his own McCain-Feingold campaign laws. He says "BOO HOO they're so mean" when he allowed President Bush and his allies to lie and swiftboat John KErry. He even ran a website called "crushkerry.com" . How's that for a 'trusted friend across the aisle'? Now let's ask this...if he can't be trusted with his own friends, then how can he be trusted with strangers?

McCain is nothing but a parady of his old self.
