It All Starts With God ~

You were born for God’s purposes and until you accept this fact, life will not have much meaning to you. You may ask why I start today’s thoughts so abruptly, but the truth of the matter is, I want to cut right to the chase.

Life is a journey, and not always an easy one. I have always admired Oswald Chamber’s willingness to speak straight to the heart, no matter how deep he must go. Sometimes that means lightly stepping on toes to get there. But let’s face it, we don’t always hear what we want to whether it is in our personal family, workplace, career, ambitions and goals; often things don’t turn out like we’d always wanted or planned them to. You may not have ever considered what God’s purposes might be for you. Do you believe God even has a purpose for your life? Do you believe God even cares?

One of my favorite scriptures is found in the Bible, Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you, plans of peace and not of harm; plans to give you a future and a hope.” If you can grasp the idea that God, the creator of the universe, has a plan for your life - how different you’ll begin to see everything around you including those things within.

Our lives do have meaning and this meaning has a profound effect on the world in which we live in and the people we interact with. Whether we believe this fact or not, it is true. God was there when we were formed in our Mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-16), you were considered, created and cared for by the One in Whom all things have their very being. Think about it, what a concept! Since we were created by God, we are to find our purpose in Him as well. Life is not all about us, it is about His purpose for us (Colossians 1:16). Living for God is what life is all about.

Join me on a 40 day journey, where you will find the real meaning of your life - a life of real purpose.

Your argument is completely without objective merit. If YOU need to believe in imaginary beings in order to find happiness and meaning in YOUR life, well...I suppose you have to do what you have to do. But I would suggest to you that this kind of primitive mysticism is NOT necessary in order to find meaning and happiness.

Hi Jsaj,

Nice pic of your doggie. What breed is he/she?

I noticed you had commented on one of my devos on the 40 day journey. I am sorry you feel no need to believe in God, but I promise you, one day when death is knocking at your door, but hopefully before then, you will see the need for God. It happens to everyone before they die. The truth hits them and it is to late to go back many years to do things over. Sometime in your life you will see the need to believe in God. Until then, He can spend your whole life showing you in various ways why you need to believe in God.

Why is it so hard to believe in God? I don't quite understand. To me, it seems it is harder to not believe than to believe. I have pondered why people would ever neglect to believe in God. We can't be so self-reliant we always want to chart our own course.
Maybe we don't want to need God, and quite possibly we just choose not to believe for whatever reason we can come up with. What is your reason for not believing in God? I would love to hear anyone's reason for not believing. I sincerely would.

Abundant Blessings,

I can't answer for Jsaj...but to me the obvious answer to this question is the complete and total lack of objective evidence supporting the idea that ANY "god," much less the existence of the specific "god" of the abrahamic faiths, actually exists.

In other words, it is hard to believe in "god" for the same reason that it is hard to believe in Big Foot, the Loch Ness Monster and Lizard People from Dimension Z. The only reason that some people find it easy to believe in "god" is because they either A) have been indoctrinated to accept that belief from a very early age or B) have a life that is so miserable that they will grasp to anything that offers them relief out of desperation or C) simply lack the intellect to step back and evaluate their beliefs in a rational fashion.

Ah, you have appeased the mighty Meek-Dog. She's a pit, we think, but she's a rescue so there's no way to know.

There are plenty of people who die without a belief in god. Carlin died pretty recently. He never stopped going at it.
And, even if, at some point I do believe in god, I have no reason to want to go back and redo anything. I am not ashamed of my life. And that wouldn't change with a belief in god. I have done nothing no reasonable code of ethics would claim to be wrong.

"Why is it so hard to believe in God? I don't quite understand."
Well, I'll explain it then. It is so hard to believe in god because there is absolutely no non-subjective, non-anecdotal, non-circumstantial evidence that there is any god.

"We can't be so self-reliant we always want to chart our own course."
I don't want my course charted. There are things that, right now, I want to do, but I don't have any specific life plans and I certainly don't want anyone else to have plans for me that I am not privy to (possibly plans that I am privy to-that depends).
