New thoughts on the election season, June 17, 2008

I was stunned, shocked, disturbed and confounded by the turn of events which has lead us to our presumptive democratic party nominee Barrack Obama. I mean I was truly in a fluster about all of this. I thought to myself how could they do that what will we do? How on earth will the democrats win now? However, I have calmed down and in my electoral tantrum I received clarity.
Now I will say this now I am a hypocrite, I find people ridiculous who so clearly align themselves with one party or another, but every election season I find myself rooting for the democrats, whether it is hopeless or not. That being said I will now continue my main thought.
In my puddle of tears while I was thinking about calling Hilary at three in the morning just to console her a little, I realized I was being ridiculous. What is done is done and now it is time for the general election. For all those Original Obama supporters out there, I’m sorry but that man worries me, he needs help, but now that he is the nominee I am of the stance it is time we get over our misgivings and get over this party divide.
The news has discussed this over the last few days that the democrats could have a problem do to this, and all I have to say is that is ridiculous. I am just as much irritated as the next guy over how things turned out but that will not drive me to say home on Election Day or vote for McCain. If it is truly a problem for anyone out there to begrudge the voters on the other side, do what I did and talk it out with an Obama supporter. If you do you will find that while his problems in the general may be a little innerving he would be an interesting president, and certainly better than McCain.
Now to get to what my moment of clarity was and my reasoning for thinking these thoughts are important enough to allow people to read. The last tangent was just a side note for anyone reading. Obama was on the news the other day talking to a local reporter in an interview and he did something, which made me finally believe he can hold his own. He called McCain out. He bullet point for bullet point laid out why he was the better candidate and did not dance around any issue or take any crap fro the McCain camp. That was amazing to watch and the first time I had seen him truly respond well to an attack. If he can keep that going through the election he will be president no problem, but those were my main concerns with him and why I am now at a little more at piece with his election for president, I still feel worried about feeling good after his speeches without actually knowing why, but that is the subject for another post.

I like your advice. They say that having conversations about politics has a large effect on an individual's vote than media (talk shows, newspapers, the world-wide web, etc.)

You're living proof! Democracy starts with you--tag, you're it.
