I recently came across a Jerry Falwell quote that left me seething. On the subject of global warming, he theorized that “The whole (global warming) thing is created to destroy America’s free enterprise system and our economic stability.” I am honestly so deeply troubled by this quote that I am almost at a loss for words. Why? It perfectly exemplifies an belief that many Americans share, the belief that global warming is not real.
On a similar note, a regular columnist of my school newspaper recently let viewers know what he thought about global climate change, writing, “The U.N. is behind this global scare tactic, they want to affect U.S. law and slow the world economy down, the Socialist agenda is plain to see.”
I simply cannot understand why the view that global climate change is a conspiracy is still being used to justify inaction, after countless studies and reports have been generated by well-qualified scientists and organizations. Most recently, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a report explicitly stating that humans were to blame for global warming and global climate change. Co-author of the report, Dr. Susan Soloman states that "We can be very confident that the net effect of human activity since 1750 has been one of warming," as reported by the BBC.
Why are we still debating the very existence of global warming? There are several factors to blame. People who have special interests in keeping our global economy dependent on oil have succeeded in confusing the masses on this subject matter. Companies such as Exxon-Mobil actually commission scientists to collect data and write reports that contradict global warming. Public figures who are in no way qualified to make statements about global climate change (see above Jerry Falwell quote) are voicing opinions on the subject that are not founded in fact.
The United States is responsible for 30% of annual carbon dioxide emissions. If we don’t do something very soon to decrease this number, we begin to experience some of the more disastrous and large-scale effects of global warming.
Global climate change is a reality. It is a direct result of our actions. We need to stop debating the existence of climate change and accept that is happening. This is necessary to begin fixing the damage we have already caused and to minimize the impact that our future actions will have on the world’s global climate.

in the past, if you would ask a psychic "how will the world end".....they would say that we ourselves will be the reason for it's end. If you look in to religion, most religions also said the same thing way before the talk of global warming, it's said that we will not be destroyed by fire, nor by water, or any other thing of the such, but we will kill ourselves. This could either mean that we are going to do something stupid and blow ourselves up, which is not too off limits when it comes down to people nowadays, or we will simply destroy the world with out technology.
I've heard people say the same thing you've said, but it's quite simple to me....If a world started off as nothing but water and land, and at least 50% of it is to be covered by buildings, pollution, and a lot of other crap....then things will change, and not for the better.
People are still debating about this Global Warming hypothesis is because it has not yet been proven correct. Regardless of what the media says, there just isn't enough proof to blame the Global Warming Phenomena on CO2. The IPCC is not all made up of scientists, there a politicians involved in this organization as well. Not all 2000 scientists agree on the hypothesis that seems to be very popular these days. I recommend watching "The Great Global Warming Swindle" on Google as well as researching other hypothesis like "Global cooling" ; it just might change your perspective on this issue. By the way I do believe in Global warming, is just the Greenhouses gasses stuff I do not agree with. However I do agree that Global Warming has nothing to do with "destroying the free enterprise system", in fact it has created an growing industry with over 10,000 jobs available.
Global Warming : It is to late for Global Warming .this is the thing of the pass .Governments will not admit that it has everything to do with shifting of the earths Poles. Why because they see that the earth is turning so slow that the people do not need to know .because there is nothing that the Government can do about it. Why panic the people .people will go crazy for nothing and that they would de so much unrest. so why cause a problem. Please do not judge these words just look and lesson to the news and you will here of so many things going wrong today that it is not funny. I live way up in the north Canada North west territories .and the Lord has let me know that there shell come a time very soon that there will be no more winters .we are in November 23 I think, and we have no yet receive our cold weather like we use to .we have not even had - 20 yet and this is not normal. we should have been in - 20 over a month ago. And please note this, we had our winter here end two week earlier this year then normal .so you tell me that the Earth is not shifting . The Lord also let me know that the Earth began its slow turning in 1996. Amen
