Environmental Sustainability

Tagged:  •

Environmental sustainability is the ability to maintain the good qualities that are valuable in the environment. For example: Maintaining good living conditions such as clean air, water and climate. Keeping up on the environmental issues and the impact that we have on it will both help us better understand what is happening and make the future better for our children.

The biggest behavior that threatens the environment that I am guilty of doing is making several needless trips to town, using my gas dryer and not recycling anything.

I would make changes to my driving habits and plan on doing what needs to be done in one trip to town. Line dry my clothes instead of using my dryer and recycle my news papers, cans and plastics. By doing this I can help in a small way to save the environment.

Upon doing some research about Environmental Sustainability it amazes me to see just how bad it has gotten over the years, and I now see why we must do something to help the Environmental Sustainability. Here are just a few that are some issues that may cause some major problems if it is not taken care of now: climate change, oil depletion, air pollution, ozone depletion, this list could go on.

Now how would you answer these four questions?

1. In your own words, define environmental sustainability.
2. Then, list three behaviors of your own that threaten environmental sustainability.
3. How could you change those behaviors to reduce threats to environmental sustainability?
4. What are some other issues that we are facing in our future if we do not take care of our planet now? What will our future children be facing?

I like that you ask us to think about it in our own lives.

I knew I was a print freak and one semester I went over fivereams of 500-ct. paper, two color cartridges, and three black ink cartidges.
I thought this was crazy since the price of paper is not free and ink is way to much for a little thing.

SO I would edit any document to what I wanted and make it small print and but on a gray scale to use fewer papers and less ink (which is less cartidges). I also stated buying recycled printer paper and I would print on both sides. Printing on both sides was a little time consuming till I realized I could just reuse the single print paper for other printing projects.

This past semester I had an equally printable load but used less then two reams of 500 ct and only one ink cartridge. I also learned that I could blend up the paper I used completely with a little bleach and water. If I pour that over a small weave screen that is made taunt I could dry it and make 'paper' for my son to doodle on. He loves it.

Good luck on E-sustaining.
