Tonight I picked some feral cherries in the yard of an abandoned house, while fireworks where being set off all around me by drunken neihbors. I made up a little spritual for the cherries, which goes like this:
Thank you lord for the rain that makes the cherries round!
Oh lord, bring the cherries down!
Thank you lord for the sun that makes the cherries round!
Oh lord, bring the cherries down!
Thank you lord for the birds that poop the pits around!
Oh lord, bring the cherries down!
Thank you lord for the moon that brings the tides around!
Oh lord, bring the cherries down!
Thank you lord for the trains to bring the hobos round!
Oh lord, bring the cherries down!
Thank you lord for the coons that carry pits around!
Oh lord, bring the cherries down!
Thank you lord for the thumbs to bring the cherries down!
Oh lord, bring the cherries down!
(I had a lot more to the song, but that is what I remember...I must add that I'd had a whole lotta rum before going out feral cherry picking!)
In other news, I put a beehive behind my house today....I've been working with lovely Theressa several nights in a row on cleaning an old beehive up and now it is behind my house. We are hoping some "volunteer" bees move in, so I don't have to purchase any. I also did my last final of the season today, a "screening physical" on my lovely lab partner Gabrielle, who also wants me to move into a farm/cohousing siduation with her out in the country somewhere...I'll have to think about that. Anyway, I'll be flying back to New York tommorrow evening, and then partying for a few days at my dear friend Holly's annual hillbilly fourth-of-July event, that typically lasts til the fourteenth of July, so I might not be writing much for a while.
Love ya,
Carrot
Oh lord, bring the cherries down!
