My personal Progress

Progress..Dictionary.com defines it as a movement towards a goal or to a further or higher stage. So basically it is moving forward. Continuing through all difficulties you may face, never slowing down. I have had a lot of personal experience with progress. I am 16 years old and have had to face many obstacles in my life. Recently a few big obstacles i have had to face have been my 4 surgeries. Fall of my sophomore year i had to have a foot surgery, june right after my sophomore year i had to have a shoulder surgery, then in november of my junior year i had to have another shoulder surgery, and finally in february of my junior year i had to have hopefully my last shoulder surgery. These all definitely slowed down the progress i was making with my life, especially when it came to athletics. However, now i look at progress differently. Its not all about taking big steps forward, or getting ahead of others. Its all about the little things, like being able to move my shoulder a little more, running a little farther, getting a little stronger.
Progress is about setting those larger goals you have for yourself, but also making those little steps it takes to make it to those goals. That way you can witness the true progress you are making... It doesnt all come at once. Progress is a process.. its a marathon, not a sprint. Its about the little steps it takes to win your race. A lot of people take these little steps for granted, and sometimes they need to be set back in order to see the true meaning behind it all and in order to witness progress in their own lives.
