Fear of whom you love

Ok I know there are many people that hate or fear people who are different. It never seems to matter what it is that makes us different just that we are different is enough to make others hate you or misjudge. I understand that it is like a part of human nature to fear what you don't know or understand. Yet even though many of us know this we still don't take the chance to try to understand the things that we do not understand or even when we do we hold onto our biased thoughts and do not allow ourselves to take in the new knowledge. It is hard when a minority has to take a stand against the majority and its even harder when you feel you must stand alone. I mean just try to put yourself in these peoples shoes or lives: if you can just close your eyes and imagine one thing about yourself that is different from the majority of people and imagine what it would be like, hearing from everyone you thought greatly of, that what you are is wrong and you are going to go to hell for it. Or that everyday you would be humiliated and bullied by your peers for your differences and no one took the time to help rather yet just stood by to watch and laugh at you. I don't know why others won't take the time to understand even though I myself am trying to understand them. I can be considered apart of a minority not only for my ethnicity but my sexual orientation. I have made my choice and have been lucky thus far because I have had others who have always stood by me. I just can't help but be saddened by the way I see others treat there fellow men and women. We still have "traditional people " out there who still believe a woman's place is at home and not in the work place and that marriage is only for a man and women. I don't understand what it is that is so wrong about loving differently and being different. I can't even begin to comprehend why it is people can so easily hate me just for who i am with out any justification as to why they would other than just because I am who I am. I don't see why marriage should only be allowed for a man and a women when in the end even that kind of supposed love doesn't last. We all have the capability to love others just as well as hate them; but what i can't understnad is why we can so easily choose hate over love. I wonder if in any lifetime we will ever see such a thing as world peace. It is a hope few can truely believe in because as long as we have a feeling that is as great as hate there will always be things such as revenge and war. Although if we always live with the thought of "an eye for an eye" we won't live long enough to ever reach that future. We may kill eachother off way before we ever get any closer to reaching world peace.
