I know I should have expected this movie to stink- and its my fault for going into the theatre expecting the movie to be a five star film, but I was super disappointed after seeing 'The Break Up.' Vince has to be one of the funniest men in comedy on screen right now. After favorites like 'Old School' and 'Dodgeball', and don't forget 'Wedding Crashers,' I really expected even a movie made with his girlfriend to be good. But lets face it, maybe Aniston's career should have ended after 'Friends' like many of her costars' did.
I really like Jennifer Aniston, don't get me wrong. She is beautiful and talanted. But the last comedy film she did I liked was 'Office Space.' I am not sure what the date on that film is, but I can assure you that it was not realeased all that recently. Sure, 'Friends' was a genious sitcome. It really was. But sitcoms and movies, are way different ventures- as are broadway musicals and sitcoms. There are different styes of acting and some stars cannot do them all. And some actors and actresses are funny in and of themselves, but do not work well on screen together. And I have to say, that I dont, nor did i ever really did imagine Aniston and Vaughn working well together, on screen or off screen. Then again I never thought Pitt and Jolie would either, so I could be wrong.
But still, defaulting towards the negative, I think that couples movies, IE movies starring acrtresses and actors who are dating each other in real life and also on screen, tend to fail at the box office. I am not sure if its because the magic of acting is gone or if we expect more as a critic because they are not really acting, but couples movies never seem to be a good idea. The last couples movie i remember coming out, and failing as well, was Ben and Jen's flick 'Gigli.' Although, I will say that Vaughn and Aniston's film is ten million times the film 'Gigli' will ever be. You know what, I see another pattern here; maybe 'Jens' should not make couples films. Maybe that is what this is about.
No matter what the reason, without giving away the ending of the movie, or the lack thereof, sorry had to get that in, I should not have wasted my time on 'The Break Up.' I gave it a chance being that my brother wanted to see it, it was his birthday, and Vaughn is one of my favorite actors. But if I could do it all over again I would have chosen a different film.

Wasn't it the only Vince Vaughn/Jennifer Aniston movie ever made?

I meant individually. Like its the worst movie i have ever seen him in. and its the worst movie I have ever seen her in.
I actually really loved it. It wasn't really funny like the previews made, but I thought it showed a different side of relationships than most other movies... a more realistic side. I could totally see myself acting like her.
i tottaly agree. it was the firstmovie i fell asleep during
