I'm overjoyed about the fact that one of my campus's coffee shops has just announced that it will extend its hours to 24-hours on weekdays. For a long time, I've wished that there were a coffee shop nearby that could cater to my late-night needs- namely, a place to study away from my apartment where caffeine is readily available. Sometimes, I'd just like to go and relax and read a good book at 3 in the morning. Whatever the reason, it makes perfect sense to have coffee shops open 'round the clock, as there is always someone who will want coffee and a place to work/study/relax.
I'm glad that the Student Government at my university saw the need for this type of facility on campus. Their work goes to show that with a little bit of initiative and teamwork, students really can have our needs heard. If more campuses begin opening successful all-night coffee bars, then who's to say that other coffee shops (other meaning not on university campuses) won't realize that lots of people may want this type of facility available? It would be great to see community businesses open more places for 24-hour service.

Cool. I live in Vegas a mile or so from the strip, so at least one casino always has a place to get coffe and food. My friends and I used to abuse the coffee refills at Denny's too. Threee or four hours of loud, caffeine fueled conversation can take their toll on some waitresses, but we always tipped 100% since we only ordered coffee.
I am glad that your student gov't is doing something. Mine is completely ineffectual. Their first meeting didn't even net a quorum so nothing could be voted on, and one of the biggest events of the year got ditched.

Every college campus should have food and coffee options for students pulling all nighters. I am sure that every college student would benefit, especially on campuses with student housing. Roommates don't always appreciate a light being kept on all night when they're trying to sleep. Besides, if an all night computer lab is available, coffee is usually a necessity!
