Nancy who?

As a senior we are required to take a government course. On the first day we had to fill out a sheet.  One of the questions was who is the speaker of the house?  Almost every single person in my class didnt no it was nancy pelosi.  I didnt understand how since she is on the news alot.  It amazes me how many people are ignorant to current events and who runs the country.  You cant complain about how are country is run if you dont even no who runs it!  There are even people who dont no who the vice president is.  This is upsetting to me because these are the same people who i have heard complain about our government and complain about the war in iraq.  If you dont even no who are vice president is then you have NO room to talk!

Wrong. I don't have to know names in order to disagree with certain policies. I can know plenty about certain policies in the USA that I disagree with, without knowing or caring who the speaker of the house or the vice president is.

i agree with the fact there are certain policies and viewpoints that you can disagree or agree without knowing certain politicians, but then also i think its fundamental to know who the basic politicians are.

I agree with most of this. I don't think you need to know every single name to disagree with some policies, like the person above said. But a lot of people in my high school argue about politics who know nothing about it. Some go "I love bush" and I ask why. "Well, because my parents do" or "Because he rocks"...well that doesn't cut it. Or vice versa on why they hate him. People need to get their facts correct before they argue.
