Ghandi left us with a famous quote: "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." So many times we let opportunities pass us by because we don't have the time, or we would rather be enjoying ourselves than taking the time out of our busy schedules to give back to the community. But I urge you to get out there and volunteer!
I started coaching volleyball at a local YMCA to change the lives of elementary girls and let me tell you, it is one of the best experiences I have ever had. Not only do these girls now have a role model, but they also have an outlet away from any problems they may be experiencing in their everyday lives.
There are so many sites that have volunteer opportunities listed, like www.volunteermatch.org. Even if you only dedicate a few hours a week or month, you could be making a huge change in somebody's life. There are so many problems that go overlooked in this world, and it's time that we act and be the change that this world needs. Instead of watching your weekly television show, go to a nursing home, hospital, or anywhere you can volunteer, and catch up on your show later. What could be more important than helping out our world? Nothing. If you can't find the time, then consider donating to an organization you care about. If you don't have the funds, then try and create awareness for the cause you support. We have to be willing to sacrifice some of our pleasures if we want to see positive changes occurring in our world. Remember, you could be saving someone's life with just a minute of your time.

Now THIS is progress! Great job with what you are doing--you have no idea how much those girls must look up to you!! That's awesome! Keep up the good work! And thanks for spreading the message--volunteering is all the rage nowadays, and I hope it take over drugs, sex, and crime in popularity! Haha, no seriously, its got potential to change the world dramatically!
