Friends and Drugs

I just recently discovered that one of my friends that I have known since I was 8 years old, now almost 17, have been using illegal drugs. He has always been the guy I looked up to and thought would always be a good kid, because that is the person he wants everyone else to be. I was extremely disappointed when I found out the kind of drugs and alcohol abuse he had been involved in. I want to say something to him about it, but I can't because his friend was sworn to secrecy.
I think sometimes we all need to take a step back.. Yes, today has been a bad day, but is doing drugs or drinking alcohol really going to make it get better? Probably not. Think about the people you affect when you do things like that. That involves taking pills as well. What would you parents or siblings think if they knew you were hurting yourself? Don't put them through that pain, just get help. I know I'm new but you can talk to me I've had some problems in the past also, I'm surely not perfect. And if you don't want to talk to me, talk to a friend of older friend. They would really appreciate you coming to them, trust me.
If you need any advice... please contact me through here, I'm here to help anyone who wants it.

Not everyone who uses drugs abuses them.

Is your friend actually abusing drugs, or just using them? Not every instance of drug or alcohol use is some kind of masochistic self-destructive ritual. This doesn't have to destroy the bloggers view of their friend as a "good kid."

The idea of a "good kid" is usually un-reasoning, snap judgment bullshit anyway. Mind altering substances are a natural component of being human.
