OMG! I FINALLY found something that UNITES us!
We're all mad at Walmart and protesting Walmart.

Some Christian conservative groups say both Wal-Mart and the Republican Party have “forsaken God.” And just as the GOP took a hit in the elections earlier this month, the groups say the retail giant’s lower-than-expected November sales figures are the wages of that sin.
Why are sales below estimates? “It is for the same reason things went south for the Republican Party this past election cycle,” read a statement by the Rev. Flip Benham and Pat McEwan, with Operation Save America and Operation Save Wal-Mart. “Wal-Mart has forsaken God and it has forsaken the people who love Him.”
The groups led protesters on Nov. 24 to picket the “gates of hell” — that is, Wal-Mart stores around the country. They say Wal-Mart, like the GOP, has strayed from its founding principles, set by founder Sam Walton, citing Wal-Mart’s dispensing of “Plan B” contraception and the fact that the retailer is a corporate member of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
Ok...so we're not 100% united. They protest against 'gay-friendly' policies, and availability of contraceptives and we protest over slave-labor abroad, outsourcing of jobs, and no health insurance and their union-busting habits.
But it's a step forward in the right direction. As far as I'm concerned Walmart got too big for their britches. they move into towns and they kill the local businesses. They tell manufactures that they MUST PRODUCE their products overseas to save money.
SO if we could only get the 'religious' preachers to recognise that Walmart violates biblical principles in THOSE categories and that THOSE categories are way more important than who is lovin' who...well, we might be able to form a coalition of the willing to take back our country from the rich corporatists.

There's ALWAYS alternatives that provide a corperate conscience, you just have to look for them! I suppose most people arent willing to do that, but hopefully people will look at businesses such as Wal mart, and ask "what good are they REALLY doign our economy a nd our peoples lifestyle?" The more people do it, the more attention it draws... Finally! The good active christians doing something somewhat productive for many Americans. Much more fulfilling than fighting minimum wage increases, or welfare funding, or harassing women in a desperate situation with cruel signs and insults.

Just to clarify, the active christians of whom i speak, are the supporters of the neocon right. NOT any o f the everyday christians I know who DO follow the teachings of christ, and DO consistantly give to charities, try to help, etc.
apparently some high money folks OUTSIDE the district made some interesting campaign donations to the members of the board who just 'happened' to vote YES to walmart--despite the widespread disapproval from just about every local resident.
***The thing is, if you control the Senate meetings, you control the gavel. And the gavel is a very important instrument... an instrument of power. An instrument that establishes the agenda.
