Marion Jones, who was the track winner of five medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, admitted that she used steroids. She pleaded guilty today and might face some jail time. It is so sad how desperate athletes are these days. Now, Jones is literally riped off from the medals she won. She came out and apologized to the public yesterday. And her apology seemed pretty sincere. I guess we can forgive her for lying all these years...
I am a huge fan of sports. I look up to athletes just as much as I look up to Britney Spears (Yes, she is still my pop princess along with Avril). Anyway, Marion Jones had always denied the accusations of using any types of performance-enhancing drugs. Even I believed her. It does hurt to see an athlete who represented our country to do this embarrassing thing. Why can't athletes be honest about their ability? Do they even know what they're putting into their bodies?
At the same time, when I heard her speech apologizing for her action...I just cannot completely hate the lady. To me, she is brave enough to admit the truth even though it took almost ten years later. Who knows how many more athletes out there using steroids. I cannot blame her totally. Her coach was probably the one who introduced the substances to her and I hope the investigators will find something on him.

that's bad she used steriods!!!
comment mine and yeah i'm your first comment on this blog
gotta love when athletes use steroids...i still think she has natural talent to run that fast on her own without the pills/injections/whatever. As you can tell by my name, im very into track and field and hopefully this incident doesn't give the sport a bad rep. Theres nothing like flying around the track at top speed!

I don't think it would affect the sport itself. Maybe more athletes will come out or get caught using steroids. I just wish that they'd be honest though. They will be admired so much more.

I wouldn't be so willing to forgive. I mean, come on, people apologize for stuff so much, it's lost its meaning. Mel Gibson doesn't hate Jews, Michael Jackson didn't do unspeakable things to little boys, and Marion Jones didn't mean to take the stuff. I'm so sure. Don't get me wrong; she's a hell of an athlete. But what she did was absolutely wrong and it shows that she knew that because she lied in the first place.
