Rutgers University women's basketball team has my up most respect! Why you ask? Because of the way they have carried theirsevles through this media firestorm by respecting what the SHOCK radio host has torn down; their school, community, families, african-american women, and women in general. I thank these young, intelligent, and talented women for standing up,for not only themsevles or african-american woman, but for what is the right.

The team's players said they hoped the scandal would serve as an opportunity to speak up for women and give a voice to issues such as racism and sexism, but acknowledged that it also served as a reminder of just how much work needed to be done.
"It kind of scars us. We grew up in a world where racism exists, and there's nothing we can do to change that," said Matee Ajavon, another member of the team. "I think that this has scarred me for life.
Coach C.Vivian Stringer said "it's not about the players "as black or nappy-headed. It's about us as a people. When there is not equality for all, or when there has been denied equality for one, there has been denied equality for all."She further said: "While they worked hard in the classroom and accomplished so much and used their gifts and talents, you know, to bring the smiles and the pride within this state in so many people, we had to experience racist and sexist remarks that are deplorable, despicable, and abominable and unconscionable. It hurts me."www.espn.com

I just wish people would stop trying to make this into a hip-hop thing. It is not! The rap lyrics in some songs have nothing to with this situation. And as a matter of fact, if everyone is making such an up roar about these rap lyrics now, where were you when they first started calling us [women] bitches and hoes. Now is not the time for people to all of a sudden take a stand on that. Take a stand on what's happening now so, it want happen again.

As an african-american women who supports women athletics, I was just...well...speechless. Did not know what to say at these words that were poured in the cup of these young ladies. Al Sharpton aside, these women do not, in any way shape or form deserved this. Just like what was and probaly still going on at LSU, this is a big subjuect that needs to be talked about whether than pushed up under the rug. This also serves as a distration for this team.

I'm just like the women's Rutgers basketball team- I just want to know why!
