junior college or 4 year ?

what do you people think about attending a junior college first before transferring into a 4 year university/college. the positive aspects of attending a junior college first is that it is very cheap and usually when you decide to go to a junior college you are trying to save money in the first place so you are staying at home. you do not have to pay for the rent and the tuition is a lot cheaper. when you go to a a four year university/college i have been told that i should try my best to attend a for year first because it is good experience to your life so you can learn to be independent. a fellow teacher also told me to get out of the city i live in ( Rancho Cucamonga) or i will never end up leaving. Lot of my family members are urging me to attend a four year university/college first because they say it will look better on my resume, but I am contemplating if I should because I feel guilty for making my parents be really stingy for the years that I am college so that they can support me. what do you guys think is better attending a junior college first and then transferring to a four year or just going to a four year right away?

i think it really depends on what you want. i wanted to get out so went for the four year but if you like were your at go for it. honestly i don't think going to a two year is going to harm your future career or college transfer choice. some people go to a four year and end up failing out ebcause they can't handle the transition. some people go to afour year and then go broke and have to go to a community college for a while...such as me lol. there is no right path it just depends on whats right for you...everyones always going to have an opinon on what they think you should do...but in the end your the one who has to deal with it. good luck :)

Trust me, if you live in California and attend a community college, and then do well, you will be able to go to any UC you want to. Plus, as you mentioned, you'll be able to save money.

I took the CC option. It was a good choice for me- I got tons of scholarships, was able to be active in student government, etc., and the instructor-to-student ratio was lower. I did feel like I missed out on the "college experience"- living in dorms, freshman parties, Greek life, etc., but it was worth the sacrifice in my situation.
