Currently, Representative Joe Barton from Washinton is holding up legislation on health bills that could very well make an impact on autism research and programs. Mr. Barton wants the Senate to pass the National Institutes of Health Reform Act, which would give the agency's director the right to set aside research dollars and develop a new reporting system to share research. Mr. Barton is being accused of delaying efforts to find cures for autism. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, estimate that 1 in every 166 children have an autistic disorder. One of the health bills that has recently been held up, that pushes for supporting autism research and programs. I think that Mr. Barton needs to wait until session begins to layout the NIHRA so that some legislation can be proposed and planned about health bills before session gets here.
