Let's Get Rid of Ten States

I propose that we remove 10 states from our union.  50 is just too many.  25 on 25 for a basketball game?  No.  20 on 20 is much more even, and 40 is just a more rounded number.

So, which 10 would you remove?  Which 10 would you give up?  Which 10 would you like to do without?

Personally, it would be:

1) California

2) Oregan

3) Washington (state)

4) Masschusettes

5) New York

6) Colorado

7) Arizona

8) Maryland

9) Texas

10) New Mexico

So, let me know which ten you want to be let go, and we will put it to the most democratic vote ever: How We Got Rid of 10 States (sorry, Lincoln)

Oh, come on! Everyone knows you gotta keep CA and NY. Without those two states, the US would be a bored, unfashionable country.

Personally, I'd get rid of 10 from the south or the mid-west. Don't find them that necessary.

Yeah, what the hell? You don't like the coasts or something. You got rid of like two layers of the west coast states, and some from the east. California is a deffinate keeper. It has a larger economy than most countries. No, California stays...even if they do produce all of those damn reality shows.

1. Arizona (I hate that place. Its a hell hole.)
2. Utah
3. Florida (you should hear about what they did to their foster kids there)
4.Rhode Island (we can just make it a city in a different state.)
5. Texas
6. New Jersey (forgot it was its own state)
7. Arkansas (we have Kansas; we don't need AR Kansas too.)
8. Missouri (doesn't sound real nice anyways.)
9. West Virginia (should have had a more creative name.)
10. South Dakota (one Dakota is enough for me.)

Oi! New Jersey is the best state in the union. Though, I wouldn't be opposed to getting rid of North Jersey. Nothing but asshole people and funny smells up there.

1. West Virginia (For a state that seceeded from the confederacy, it's awfully hick-y)
2. Wyoming (The only thing to come out of Wyoming was Dick Cheney...)
3. Montana (For making those shitty minivans)
4. Florida (How difficult is it to punch a hole?)
5. Ohio (And take Kucinich with you!)
6. South Carolina (Let those Exodus people have their way)
7. North Dakota (It probably thinks it's Canada already, anyway)
8. Kentucky (It's like Tennessee without the redeeming qualities)
9. Iowa (For giving us Slipknot)
10. Rhode Island (For being neither a road nor an island, discuss)

And basketball is a shitty sport, anyway.

Hrmm... if Arkansas gets booted, we're taking our rice and poultry, soybeans, grapes, grain and cotton with us and jacking the prices up for the rest of ya'll. You'll miss us then. ;)

Texas is just trying to get rid of the competition. Everyone knows that Texas, New York, and California are big rivalries. You're just trying to get rid of Cal and NY because everybody likes them more than Texas.

...New Mexico and Alabama are like Texas's replacements. I think that's where the Texans would end up if we did get rid of Texas.

Its all bigger in Alaska...except maybe the hats.

Have you all actually BEEN to 10 different states....or are you just letting streotypes and bigotry think for you???
i wonder.....

your picture says so much about you nicholas :)

To your dismay, I have been to almost every one of the Contiguous United States, with plans to visit Alaska this year. To date, I have been to 37 States. So, yes, I have been to 10 different states. (I've also lived in Kentucky, Arizona, and California)

I do enjoy that you like my photo, it has a very interesting story behind it. Well, probably more interesting to me than to you.

why should we think when stereotypes and bigotry can do it for us? That's what they're for anyways, right.

Nicky, she's just mad cause you are trying to kick her out of the union. I think your picture says you're a fun guy.

Considering California has the sixth largest economy in the world. it wouldn't bother me at all to break off from the USA.... I don't really like the culture here anyway.

Hmmm. Ten states to get rid of. Thank you to the few people on here who have not wanted to get rid of my home state. It means a lot to all of us who "ride to school on tractors and horses," "have cows as pets," and "work on farms all day." I hear from many people that come to visit the state that those are popular activities in our area though I have never witnessed this. Stereotypes are not always correct agent... Take Hawaii for example: a lot of the people who live there are poor though that may be hard to believe considering all the revenue the state brings in. Anyway, here's my list of states to get rid of with reasons why for some of them.

1. California needs to go. They get so many electoral votes that it makes the Presidential vote unfair. Sure it is due to the number of people in the state, but very few of the people there actually vote, so they shouldn't get all of that voting power.

2. Florida. Sure they raise a lot of income from tourism, but they also seem to have issues with voting and hurricanes.

3. Missouri. Anything that you can get in Missouri, you can get in other midwestern states, except for illegal fireworks in some cases. They are in the middle of the country, but they don't contribute all that much except in the form of tourism (St. Joseph, etc).

4-5. Arkansas and New York. Enough said, though if you want me to say more, I don't agree with some of the politicians that have come out of the state. They have been messing up the country over the last few years...That goes for New York as well.

6. Maryland

7. Utah

8. Louisiana. Any time I hear something about Louisiana, it is usually something disagreeable or in the form of complaining.

9. Montana

10. Tennessee

I have been to 43 states (all except Alaska, Hawaii, North and South Dakota, Montana, Kentucky and Michigan), and definitely have some that I hate. First of all, you have to keep Colorado (my state) because most Europeans and other foreigners come to ski in the winter. Our whole economy is based on tourism, so that should say something about our appeal to the world. And I would definitely keep Rhode Island (my favorite state), although it is the model for corruption and headquarters of the American mafia, it still has Newport (my favorite city in the U.S.) and you can go from the upstate forests down to the ocean in less than 30 minutes- simply amazing. Anyway, I would get rid of:

1. New Mexico- God, I hate this state; majority is nothing but desert and filth.
2. Wyoming- Windy, barren, desolate, cold, University of Wyoming, need I say more....
3. Nevada- 98% is government land, and there is absolutely nothing but desert...and Las Vegas which blesses us with many trash cans to throw away our extra money
4. Kansas- I don't think I have to elaborate on this one
5. North Dakota- I haven't been there because I've had no reason to go...there is nothing there worth seeing
6. Idaho- Just not a big fan...horrible every time I've been
7. New Jersey- they've got the Turnpike, and well...it's a huge city with boundaries
8. West Virginia- Coal mines and weird people...
9. Nebraska- terrible; almost as bad as Kansas, but not quite.
10. Utah- Let's make it a Mormon sanctuary!!....and then detach it from the Union...
