First off, I want to apologize for not being on forever. Things have been crazy in my world, but not enough to be more than a lame excuse. Luckily, I don't think that many people read my posts, or are waiting for the next one, though it is long overdue. The last post was supposed to be the first of a series, but have haven't been on for like 6 months.
Second, another place for classified ads is fine. It is always nice to have another place where you can get in touch with somebody new, do increase your chance of successfully selling/buying whatever. However, I think this is a weird place for that. I also think that it is the first step (though not necessarily) to a bastardization (that might be misused, but its a cool word) of this site. Classified ads seem out of place here. Classifieds are hardly progressive. It seems to me that ads ought to be left on facebook, myspace, and craigslist. Not that they will kill this site on its own, but I do not want to see this place try to expand itself and start to become like facebook or something, not even a mature progessive version of it. Let's keep debates in, and socializing and business out. That said, I don't think the makers of Progressiveu will steer us wrong. Just don't sell to some big corporation or something.
I'm curious as to what's going to happen. Right now I think ads are a good step, as they are ads by actual students helping students. On the other hand, it's only a matter of time before spammers and advertisers find ProU and take over the ad system.
