Many people assume, that a woman who terminates her pregnancy, that she is doing this for selfish reasons. However this is not always the case. For some women, this decision was the hardest thing they ever had t o do. Abortion has become such a trendy form of contraceptive, it has been deemed evil and cruel. However this procedure, risky as it is, has saved the life's of countless women.
I used to be tunnel minded when it came to abortion, as a matter of fact, I used to be pro life. That was until I became pregnant myself. & months into my pregnancy I developed a nasty condition called preclampisa. I was admitted into SHANDS hospital at 159 lbs and Weighed in at a whopping 196 the next day. That was the last time I was weighed , however after they preformed my c-section, my hospital bands were so tight on me, they left bruises. Preclampisa is a condition that usually forms in the womans first pregnancy. IT caused me to have a mini stroke and my blood pressure to get as high as 150/100. The doctors told me if I get pregnant again withing the next three years, that they suggest I terminate the pregnancy, my body would not be able to handle it.
However, medical reasons are not the only time an abortion is preformed. Sometimes sadly, a woman is raped, or a teenager is molested. Not to many women could mentally handle carrying a pregnancy to term knowing the child was conceived in such a violent manner. Most people do not stop to think about what the woman goes threw during an abortion. This proceadure is very harsh and in some cases results in injury to the woman, and in some cases death as well. Most women go into the clinics uneducated about what actually goes on with the human body. The process of expelling a embryo/ fetus is harsh on the woman cervix and reproductive organs undergo a beating . Side effects of abortion include heavy bleeding, major infection, embolism, endotoxic shock, damage of the uterus, haemorrhage's, and cervical injury. Some women also suffer from chronic abdominal pain, future miscarriages, infertility, ectopic pregnancies as well as breast cancer and in some cases, even death. In 2003 fifteen women passed away due to abortion problems. This is only the legal reported abortions, countless women have passed away from illegal abortion complications. This being said, I really do not see why women and teens who are reckless do not educate themselves about the benefits of safe sex, and contraceptives. Many clinics like planned parenthood offer many services. When I called Lacy at the Manatee Health Center Location, she told me about all of the beneficial services that are offered, but many women seem to over look. Some of the services offered are STD testing, sex education, free condoms offered in all clinics, Birth control offered to teens for as low as $10.00 and adults $22.00 . This clinic also offers counseling or referrals out in town for women who really feel the effects of abortion. The resources are out there, they are just not widely advertised.
Some women can feel the effects of abortion for years afterwards. Suffering in silence for fear of being judged by an deaf society. Not many people stop to consider the reasoning behind abortion, however some women are often urged to terminate a pregnancy due to medical condition such as spinal bifiba, or conditions that could result in death to the mother, or even in cases when the mother has HIV/AIDS. People just turn a blind eye to the abortion only seeing it as murder sometimes you have to consider the mother as well. In rape cases and cases where the mother in extremely young. Society should consider the factors. These women are not mentally stable, or physically stable to carry on with a pregnancy. In cases of “babies having babies” these tweens may have bodies that can reproduce, they continue on with a pregnancy, statistic show they have a pretty high chance of developing preclamisa. Which is a condition that if untreated can result in the death of both mother and child. It is a very very nasty condition that some women develop if they are under 21, and it is their first pregnancy. Unfortunately some Fetuses develop a deformation called spinal bifiba, in such cases Dr's Suggest the women terminate the pregnancy, this condition can prevent the spinal cord from developing and effect the brain, some children who are carried to full term, depending on which form of the condition they have, some children could be left paralyzed and suffer from,ADD and problems with their bowel and bladder. Not all women decide to terminate their pregnancies.
These are the facts that many people fail to notice, not all women who receive abortion are doing it for the wrong reasons. Many women who do terminate their pregnancies are forced to do so, due to rape, molestation or for health risk. Society needs to open their minds and put on someone else's shoes.
