I had the pleasure of visiting and participating in the annual American Beauty Show (ABS) also known as the Midwest Beauty show.

It is suppose to be restricted to Beauty professionals and students, but I'm sure that as long as you have cash that you can enter the event, being the tickets are not cheap. As a student I got a decent discount, I paid $35 for my ticket, but others were paying any where from $75 to $225 depending on what activities'license that is currently held.

Two of my classmates and I started off and was overwhelmed with some of the elaborate booths.

A few of the most memorable where "Chi" and Sexy Hair" . Both of which had a runway. Also Young Nails.

Chi had two of the top stylist cutting two client's hair. They were rocking out, dancing as music was blaring. They were so animated while cutting the hair. For instance after cutting their client's hair they would take the cut hair and throw it in the air. Two ladies came to sweep it up.

Next, every item being used was displayed and applauded as the audience received a breifing of the benefits of the product. Once one of the stylist slid accross the floor jump up and continued cutting.

Then there were models. They were dressed up in evening wear, flawless hair and makeup. As the stylist were cutting they were posing and modeling around the stage as well as walking the runway. There was plenty of audience participation.

Sexy Hair was much more animated. The stylist, models, and clients were all dancing and participating.

While Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" (so clever) was roaring in the back ground. Models danced and played around the stylist as they did client's hair. There wer about 6 booths.

It was even entertaining to watch a client get there hair blow dried. In particular two stylist were blow drying a client's hair. They would toss the dryers around and spin her in the chair. Her facial expressions were playful and excited.

Then a stylist in the back was cutting a client's hair that would remind you of Edward Scissor Hands style. He (the stylist) then stood back and made an evil face with a smile as if he ruined her hair. The client then looked in horror and burried her face in her hands. Then he comes back finish the cut as they both move to the beat.

Another stylist is styling hair. Tossing and throwing the hair all over the place. Her and the client takes breaks to dance. Then even during one dance routine the stylist is still styling the hair.

It was so much entertaining things going on you wanted to take quick glances at everything so that you wouldn't miss out on anything.

The best moment of the whole performance was when the blow dryer pulls the hair of his client , playfully, then kisses her.

MY favorite by all means was "Young Nails". I'm a little biased being a Nail Tech student. There were about six booths. The nail techs were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were showing how to do a long range of nail enhancements. From sculpture acrylics, gels, tips. #d and glitter art. Gel glitter toes. With full visual and verbal instruction.

I even was able to have a glitter gel sculpt nail service.

The guys at young nails were very gracious and friendly. I took pictures with them and even got to spaek with them and answer questions.

Of course I was excited to see OPI, Creative, Nail Tech.

I really enjoyed myself and can't look forward to next year. No later than four years I plan to have my own booth, representing my own nail salon and products.

I can't wait to attend next year. I am really proud to be begining my path in this profession. For once now I can truly say I've found were I belong.
