Many philosophers have pondered on this question for centuries. What is the meaning of life? In emphasis, why are we here on Earth. Well, first off let me tell you that I am no philosopher, I am just a normal teen. Though, I can tell you what my opinion on what is our purpose in this world. The famous book says that we wereplaced here to please our creator. Some other books say that we just came into existence and evolved into what we are now
Last year, during a class discussion, my AP Physics teacher told me what her opinion of the meaning of life was. Ms. Ramikhan told the class that our purpose in the life was to leave this planet having changed the world positive. Well, everybody wondered, how could a group of teens change the world? I on the other hand felt differently.
Ever since I was little, I have always had this warm feeling over me. It was a feeling that I had a purpose in life, that I had something to acheive. Everyone in this world has a purpose, some are predestined to succeed, while others stray away from their tasks. Those others strayed because they became entangled in vices such as drugs, hardliving, and such. Those who recognize their purpose have strong wills because they have strong souls. A strong soul is a good thing to have when one starts their lie journey.
Have you ever watched the television shows about people who have miraculously survived tramatic and harrowing events, and seem to be unfazed? That is because they are strong willed and have a strong soul. I believe that some people can survive such incidents because they have a purpose in life that they have yet to fulfill. This might sound bad, but those tramatic events actually enlighten them, they actually see their real purpose. These survivors usually end up speaking about those events, and even raise money for other survivors. This helps them in getting over the mental trauma that comes from their experience. Not only that, but they have also changed lives. Even changng one person's life is still a change to the world because that person is part of this world.
I believe that my purpose now in life is to change the lives of the people around me before I die. I am not trying to start another Enlightment Movement, I want to show people a new and broader way of thinking.Furthermore, when I am older, I want to help my native countries, Haiti and the Dominican Republic. They are two countries that ar not talked about much, but are in bad shape. Hopefuly, my destined path will cross with someone elses path and we can both help eachother and this world.
I hope you guys will see your destiny, Martin Luther King Jr. did, so did Rosa Parks. Mother Teresa fulfilled her destiny, even Ghandi, just to name a few. Life is truly not about fame, you can change the world quietly. Little things each day can change a life. A regular compliment can go a long way, so can a smile. Remember, most recognition and fame goes to humanitarians after death, so you must make the most of your time alive.

I believe that there is no grand scheme of things. Life is what we make it and living your own life is your purpose. Your actions can effect millions of people, or no one but those closest to you. That is based partly on what the individual chooses to make of him/her self and partly on the world around them.

Life is what you make it. I do wish we had more leaders for progressive change to look up to in the mainstream. I can not think of many but there are a few.

To reply to your comment, I do believe that there are some that are predestined to do something with their lives. The rest, as you said have to make the most of their lives. Any action you make affects a person, even a simple sneeze. Life is about a continuous chain of events that stem from one previous incident. Life is a continuous cycle of events that affect all people until there are none left. Basically, life is like domino's, the actions one takes cause effects that go on till the last domino falls.
I do not believe that to be true in anyway. Just because a person is doing important work in the world doesn't mean they have to have existed and done that work. It may seem like that to us because, having existed and done what they did, they made a profound impact on the world. That does not mean that there was something forcing them to do it.

I agree with you very much.
I really don't understand how some people can look around at everthing life is and not think for a moment it's something more than we understand.
I was previously in a pretty bad car accident and before then there was not much that I took to the limit of wonder, but after such things you really start to think after all that can happen why am I alive.
I believe the line between life and death seems thin at one moment, but at another it seems as if something is there holding us.
Anyways I'm glad to see there are still people out there that care and have hope.
Surviving a car accident, recovering from illness, living through a battle or anything like that does not mean that there is meaning in life. First of all, what about all of those who don't survive? Second, there are reasons why some survive and others don't. The severity of the injuries, how close you are to a hospital, how sick you are, how soon the sickness was discovered, where you happened to be in a fight as well as a million other variables and, yes, luck.
I can very easily believe that life is all that we see, that there is no divine purpose behind it. Life is amazing and fasinating, just because there is nothing more doesn't make it any less.
And, no, I am not some hopeless depressed nihilistic person. I have hopes and dreams. I aspire to make something with my life. I just don't think that, If I do, there is any god who is responsible for it.

Man what is you problem, so what if you don't think there is anything more to life.
I think if you really felt that way you wouldn't go after every convo just to say you don't agree, ok we actually have hope for something more.
What's my problem? Well, at the moment I have a bit of a headache, but I can't think of any thing else.
Oh, and if you can't bear to have people disagree with you, I suggest you do either one of two things.
1- Deal with it.
2- Don't get into situations where people will disagree with you.
"Every man makes a god of his own desire."
-Virgil
Obviously if I had a problem with people disagreeing with me, I would have Killed myself a long time ago.
So, then why are you so offended by the fact that I put up my opinion about these issues?
"Every man makes a god of his own desire."
-Virgil
I'm not personally offended, it is however very anoying when you go and write abunch of stuff that people probably wont even read all of, and probably don't agree with you on.
It's also very suspicious that you are attacking faith in something more, so agressivly.
If people choose not to read it, that's their choice. However, to dislike a statement of the opposite opinion is somewhat childish. I will not refrain from saying what I think because people will disagree with it,
What, exactly is so suspicious about my belief that a faith in a higher power is irrational?
"Every man makes a god of his own desire."
-Virgil
Please don't attack what others believe just because they don't believe what you do.
I don't attack it. If I attacked it, which I am rarely tempted to do, I would be definately violating the ToS. Trust me. I criticize it. I look at what is being said and give my opion, as I am expected to do on this site. That is the whole point. If you don't want your beliefs to be challanged, don't put them up on this sort of site. If I post something contrary to your beliefs, I would expect you to do the same.

I do not even know you, but for some reason, seeing the accident followed by how broad your perspective is now, it almost made me tear up. Your comment is really reassuring, and you are right, sometimes we see better when our lives are nearly over. I am very happy that you have a positive attitude about something that would normally be traumatic
for most. I believe that you are strong willed and have a strong soul.
Georgi3
Thank you for saying that.
I personally believe we all have it in us, we just have to look for it, or sometimes it takes something bigger than our selves to bring it out.
It was really something I'll never forget, I always saw traumatic things happen but for some reason always thought that I was safe, I don't know why.
It really seems like it was something that was supposed to happen, I was at a place where I was really taking everything for granted and just didn't look around to see that there's something so much more serious.
That night really changed me in many ways.
I just hope it doesn't take something like that to make people see.
Everything in life has a purpose. Each particular object doesn't chose its own purpose because it was already designed creatively for a specific reason.
Examples:
-bananas were created for food
-honey bees were created to pollinate flowers and make honey
-trees were made for shade, reproducing oxygen, making fires
-soil was made for plants to grow in
-the sun was made for light to seperate day and night, for warmth & vitamin D
-pencils were made to write
-shoes were made to protect the feet and be walked in
-cameras were made to create photographs
-Etc.
Everything in life has a reason for being. Each inventor created his invention with a purpose in mind. God also created US, human beings, with a meaning in life. A reason to live. A purpose.
"Everything in life has a purpose. Each particular object doesn't chose its own purpose because it was already designed creatively for a specific reason." Or it came to be becuase of Natural Selection or some other process.
"-bananas were created for food
-honey bees were created to pollinate flowers and make honey
-trees were made for shade, reproducing oxygen, making fires"
Fruits are used to spread seeds of the trees. We also eat them. Honey Bee's and fowers have a symbiotic relationship. They create honey because they eat it. Wood burns. Tree's need CO2 and have leaves. Wow. Purpose.
The rest of your list is just as arbitrary. I don't think that I have any part in some grand purpose for humanity. I don't think there is a grand purpose. You have to create your own purpose.
"Every man makes a god of his own desire."
-Virgil
King Solomon once said in Proverbs 19:21, "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." We can plan our lives out to the second and try to create a purpose for ourselves, but we'll never beat the purpose that God created us for.
I only fight imaginary enemies when I feel like it. So, I don't really have to worry about being beat in that way. What I do right, I take the credit for, what I do wrong, I secretly accept, but publicly blame my dogs.

Guys you all are right...this is just a blog topic. I posted my opinion on what I think is th meaning of life. I knew it was going to be criticized and supported. Though, do not attack eachother because what I said and your opinions are guesses. I have never claimed what I said to be fact. My statement is only my opinion and nothing more. Each individual is allowed their own opinion, or else they would not be able to compose a thought...
