Freedom- what we call it, it is not.

Amy Rice's picture

Freedom, we toss the word around carelessly and parade around doing everything we want in IT's name....FREEDOM.

We say what we want and site "freedom of speech", yet we tear down others with opinions that are better left unsaid. We express ourselves with little thought to our neighbors. It is easy to say, :The war is useless"...Tell that to the mother whose son will never come home, or the wife left at home with little mouths to feed and no husband to provide.

We have the freedom to think for ourselves yet let the media decide for us...DIG deeper. No one has all the answers...(Some people think they do...) I am disappointed by the people I run into that are "just waiting for the world to change" as John Mayer would say (what an ignorant comment). The world will not change- Virtue is action and action is change, when manuevered for the best for all...WOW.

And, that is why this site exists. To promote and encourage a thought process that allows US...A whole generation...to have a valid voice and conversation to advance our possibilities, our aspirations, et cetera...

I had to talk to my boss today...about me...and my Type A personality...I realized through our conversation that awareness of one's self and the capability to change one's own characteristics makes the quiet ripples that change the world - in time. It doesn't happen overnight, it is a process. I plan to exercise my freedom in the events of my own life and making everyone's lives a little better from knowing me.

I don't think that's a good example of an opinion better left unsaid. It may hurt some people, and I wouldn't walk up to a war-widow and say it, but the American people not only have the right, but the duty to say loud and clear what they think of the government.

"Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do."
Benjamin Franklin

HEY!!!! :dances:

I think you make a valid point, but you're leaving out something rather important: It is our DUTY to be informed citizens in the goings on around us. However, most people shirk this duty and allow themselves to be lead like sheep (as you said). What is important is that we don't just stand idle; As you said, action is the only thing that will cause change (I hate John Mayer as much as Al Gore) and action is most ceratinly called for with the current government (and a couple assassinations before the 08 election).

To carry an understanding about the bliss hidden in love, brings the strength to concur that unbelief that keeps one away from freedom, some are one step closer to enlightenment, while for others a spiral of fear awaits at the beginning.

Like hateful fuel, horny for a Match!

One day we knew, another we know, like if we had been knowing before and even before.

Following the light of the sun, we left the Old World

A very same feeling, I love you too….

Ride the spiral, Wombels, ride the spiral.
