I want to read a good book

Ok so I've written blogs about books before and about how old classics are just not very interesting but books about gosisp are more interesting to me. Well my opinion has changed again! I'm burned out on classic books that just arent interesting to me like Hemingway and Faulkner and I'm burned out on books of gossip like Gossip Girl and the sisterhood of the traveling pants ( eventhough they were good I'm just sick of reading books like that). So I was wondering if you guys could tell me some titles of books that are action or horror. Like the movies Ocean's 11 (which is a book that I'm planning to read) The Bourne Supremacy(which is also a book that I'm planning on reading; also that trilogy is by Robert Ludlum which I have read his book the Ambler Warning which was a good book but a few of the word and things that happened I just didnt understand), Jumper (which is also a book that I've read and was really good). I'm trying to give you titles of movies that I liked that I want to read books that are similar. Other movies would be The Texas Chainsaw Masacre, or anything horror, etc. My favorite movies are Titanic ( for the romance) Blue Crush and School of Rock. So it would be really cool if there were books like my favorite movies. I know my blog was a little crazy and all over the place but I would just love to read a few good books and I would love your guys help!!!

That website lists a lot of movies that are based on books. It might be useful. I can't think of any horror books, mainly because I can't read horror books (or watch horror flicks). If I think of anything actiony, I'll leave you a note.

There are plenty of good books out there you just have to know where to look. If you liked books like the Sisterhood and Gossip Girl but you're just sick of the subject matter, maybe you shouldn't necessarily change genres; you could just find new topics. I had the same problem a while back, so I tried to find books that were from a guy's perspective [Ned Vizzini's a good one for that], and books that were about pretty serious issues but were still interesting. If you haven't read the Twilight series, I highly recommend them. They're romance with a little horror thrown in. And I also recommend It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. It's realistic fiction, but it's different than any other book I've read in a really interesting way. Oh, you can also try Blue is for Nightmares by Laurie Faria Stolarz, A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb, Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin, Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, Peeps by Scott Westerfeld, and... yeah, you can see I'm really a book freak. =D Oh, and once you find out what kind of book you're looking for, you can just go to bn.com (Barnes and Noble's website) and search books you like, and they'll recommend other books that are like that one. That's how I find the majority of my books. Good luck!

I liked Anne Rice's Vampire series and the Mayfaire Witches. also, Stephan King's Dead Zone. However, this one is pretty graphic. Eye of the Dragon was another good one he wrote. Also check out Gail Carson Levine. I'm actually a fan of the classics, but you might be reading the wrong ones. Try Dracula, or maybe come Greek epics if you really want to try something different.
