Starting January New Hampshire will be giving girls age 11 to 18 free cancer vaccines. This cervical-cancer vaccine is supposed to help prevent cervical cancer which is the No. 2 killer in women. State officials hope to give the vaccine to about 17,000 girls.
This is amazing, I had no idea they had developed a vaccine for any kinds of cancer and to give it away for free! This truely is progressive. Think of how many lives could be saved if every state adopted this. Hundreds of thousands of lives a year could be saved by this. I think that this is truely amazing and we as the people of the US should really push this.

The vaccine targets HPV, which is the leading cause of cervical cancer. It isn't geared at the cancer, just at the cause of the cancer. Breast cancer, for example, can be caused by excess of estrogen in the bloodstream. It could also be caused by a few different mutations in the DNA of breast cancer cells, disrupting a pathway that controls cell division in the breasts. Obviously, these causes cannot be prevented by a vaccine, because they are not a disease, like HPV is to cervical cancer. Now, according to the article I posted, they are coming out with vaccines that are designed to eat away at tumors that exist in the body already.
The vaccine in question is up for screening in the EU as well, so it's making it's way out.
