Perhaps The Best Part of Waking Up Is The Sweet Transitorial Ignorance of Anything Misfortunate, and Nothing of Folger's.

It was 12:02 A.M. Eastern Standard Time in the region of Pittsburgh, PA, when this blog was born from the wandering and restless mind of mine own. I haven't blogged in roughly nine months, but due to lack of motivation rather than rack of incentive. I've had plenty of occurrences of mental diarrhea to inspire me to blog for desires of free-writing, but by the time that I could gain internet access I wouldn't feel as motivated to actually blog at that moment. "Perhaps later I'll feel more into posting all of this or that." Alas, 'later' would never come to redeem those moments of inspiration. Therefore, this is my most recent blog since May of 2007.

Why have I started blogging again? I have been in search of scholarship opportunities for when I commence college next year at Bradford School in Pittsburgh, and of course, I'm going to need to pay for tuition. I've been using FastWeb mostly for scholarship opportunities and upon registration I clicked a box to subscribe to ProgressiveU for further possibilities. After a month i decided to go forward with subscribing and establishing a ProgressiveU account, and here I am blogging for a way to afford college.

My incentive for college? Both my parents attended college in their post-secondary days; my father was enrolled in Bentley in Waltham, Massachusetts, and my mother attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. However, neither of them completed their degrees; my father dropped out for relationship reasons, and I cannot recall why my mother left. Fast forward almost forty years to their eighteen-year old son going on nineteen living in a household with an annual income less than $25K. Had my father earned his Bachelor's in Accounting I certainly would not be in this situation. I don't ever want to put my children through that type of situation and I don't want to ever be in the financial state that my parents find themselves in, so naturally I'm furthering my education to avert this situation.

I grew up very inclined towards music, so wherever life takes me I want to have music in my life. I plan to attend Bradford to study in their Merchandising Management program, and upon receiving an Associate's for this I plan to attend Point Park University across the river studying in their Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management program for my Bachelor's and eventually my Master's Degrees. Why not go to Point Park for all four years? It's because of my shitty GPA. I scored a 1560 on my SATs but my cumulative grade point average is a current 2.5 at best due to my lackadaisical freshman year and my disasterous junior year. Not only that, but I cannot afford to attend all four years of Point Park, but I've scored a scholarship at Bradford for $6,000 which is a quarter of my overall tuition. After accumulating a better transcript at Bradford, I will be able to qualify for more beneficial scholarships to afford my education. I have my heart and mind set on Point Park when the time is right and the financing allows it, but until then I am carefully meandering towards that Bachelor's from PPU.

Currently it is 12:33, and as weariness is growing upon me I cannot fight it off any longer. I have reached my limit of consciousness for the early morn, and must depart for rest. Adios for now!

Hey, Coop!
Your situation sounds a lot like mine! I have my heart set on a school in Boston but I'm afraid I won't be able to go there due to financial situations. Both schools in Boston that I have applied to are private, so I have empathy for the whole I-can't-go-to-the-school-I-want-to-go-to thing. Oh, and I completely agree on the "I'll post on my blog later" feeling. My poor Xanga has been abandoned for some time now...
Well, I'll talk to you later! Good luck on scholarship searches Oh please Oh please Oh please...

Welcome to ProgressiveU. Don't forget that the contest doesn't start until February 15th, so anything you write between now and then will not count toward that. I would encourage you to keep blogging in the meantime, however, as you'll gather readers as you go and that is always a big help when the contest officially starts.
