Teachers

When my sister said that she wanted to be a teacher, I thought nothing of it. Teachers are hard-working people who have to deal with problems I could never deal with, like smart mouth kids and tons of papers to grade. But someone has to do it and I think my sister would be good with that. Plus, she would be happy to basically have summers off. However, my dad flipped out. He said that she was too smart to ever became a teacher and that she was crazy to even suggest it.

Which got me thinking, do teachers get the respect from other professionals? Yes my father's job is important, but why is it any more important then being a teacher? The truth is my dad wouldn't have his job if it weren't for teachers. No one would have a job if it weren't for teachers and we still would be living in the dark ages. Yes, some teachers are much better then others, but even the teachers I hated gave me some bit of infomation that was useful. I think that teachers deserve a little more respect.

Just something to think about.

A few years ago I was considering the same thing, and my family showed no true enthusiasm. I must question the sensibility of their reaction. Truly, where would the world be without teachers? Presently, I do not know If that is still what I want to do, but it is something I consider from time to time. Personally, I think that teachers should be payed more for their efforts (or at least most teachers should.)

A world as complicated and intricate as ours sits on the shoulders of teachers. In a situation where we understand almost nothing about the world around us teachers help to illuminate as much as they can.

Res ipsa loquitur.
Memento mori, mahalo.

Its true that teachers are given a hard rap and a hard job. Yet, people say all these things, but where is the hard fact? No one tells their kid to grow up to be a teacher. they tell them to grow up to become doctors and lawyers. money is the only thing that matters, not the reward of changing someone's life.

My life was changed and for that reason i would like to be a teacher. I know it will be a hard road, especially with the dismal state of america's school system, but everything of value was earned.

however there is the other hand that teachers are just the losers who couldnt get jobs in other places. it all varies. i've had some of those and some who geninuinely get a grin on their face when things finally click. they revel in knowledge and the opportunity to teach it. you find a little bit of both in the world.

it all comes down to how you want to sell the job of a teacher. maybe if you pay them a little bit more and let them teach things that really matter, the best and brightest would stop becoming lawyers to pay for their college education and would do something they actually love. teaching would be a shoo-in career for me if I knew I would be financially able and that I could have a future in it. otherwise, becoming a doctor sounds a lot better. so say thanks to your teacher and this election, put people in the school board who will really appreciate them.

If you believe, you can achieve.

Yah, I think real teachers need to be more respected. I mean real as in the teachers who really want to help kids in school. In high school there are a lot of teachers who teach a class because they are a sport coach. Their main focus is on their coaching job rather than in the class room.

As a future teacher myself, I find it disgraceful that so many people look down on the teaching profession, but, really, if it were not for teachers, no one would be where they are today.
