For my first blog, I'd like to address an issue that we're all a part of. We are today's youth. The things we choose to adapt, think, and the words we use all shape America's future generations. So, why is it that we all (even myself) constantly degrade our own generation with mindless humor instead of wit or tact, raunchy lyrics instead of good natured music, and shrinking minds (and clothes) instead of knowledge and modesty?

I know I'm not the ideal teen. I do things I'm not proud of, just like everyone else. However, no matter how much you hear it, corruption of our young minds through media is a fact, and without a change, we'll likely end up becoming less and less intelligent as technology increases. Does anyone else find it strange? Why do we now find it a necessity to own a cell phone? Why is it now unacceptable to be a virgin in high school?

It all amounts to one question:

What will happen to America?

The answer:

You decide.

That is a good and true point. I graduated from high school in 2004 and a lot of peers thought it was strange that I was still a virgin when I graduated....lol. And I never could understand what people got out of listening to music like rap. But back to the point, you do have a great point and I agree with you.

We are the future not just our own but for our children and our children's children as well. They will follow our example. We need to be the kind of people that will point them in a positive direction.

The mind pretty much becomes lazy when things are made easy. Technology makes things easier on us, for the most part. Older folks who aren't in tune with this generations technology will disagree, but that is beside the point.

If you look at the bigger picture here, many of the things you mentioned such as raunchy lyrics, more revealing clothes (im assuming thats what you mean by shrinking clothes?), it all revolves the almighty dollar. It's what sells, it makes money. Thats what this world revolves around. If it didnt, the price of milk wouldnt be $3.00 right next to gasoline.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying. However, I've always been iffy on the idea of how much media can actually corrupt a person. I feel like it shouldn't have that sort of power over a person's decisions, mostly because a lot of things we see in the media go against common sense. But recently I've been learning that common sense isn't that common... especially when I hear stories about kids playing around and killing someone because they saw it in a t.v. show. It's so hard to imagine that they could be so heavily influenced, and yet they are.
I mainly disagree with you on the cell phone issue. While I don't think it is necessary for a 10 year old to be running around with one, I do think that they are so intregal to our way of life. My cell phone has saved me from horrible situations more than once and, in my opinion, it's worth the horrendous bill that comes with it at the end of the month. I can't tell you the amount of times I've had car trouble on the highway or have been locked out of my house in the middle of the night but was mercifully saved by my cell. It may not be absoultely necessary, but it is a comfort item that does serve a useful purpose in emergencies.

Media is too graphic with its horror, stupid comedy and too much sex. America is going to be a murderous farting cesspool of filth. Everyone will have a VD even the innoccent will be infected.
And I wonder why I get depressed sometimes. LOL
