Sterotypes

Stereotypes: Automatically forming an opinion that comes from a place of judgement rather than fact. (This is my definition). Assuming something "is" before seeking and questioning the truth and reality. Ignorance.

How many times a day do you fall victim to stereotypes and stereotypying? How many times do you observe and judge before really knowing the truth? Do you judge a book by its cover?

Let's be aware. I'm going to keep this one short. My challenge to you is to pay attention (for one day) and quietly make a mental note of your perceptions on people, and situations. Perhaps you saw a homeless person and automatically deemed them "drunk and lazy". Perhaps you saw someone of an ethnic heritage and judged them. Perhaps you saw someone who was not skinny and you thought they did not care about themselves. Perhaps you view a future woman president as weak. Perhaps YOU were looked at and stereotyped...note how this made you feel.

If possible, find your way back to this blog and share your encounters, and your lessons...it would be a great example for the many people who read this:) (plus it shows that we are all not perfect and that we do judge)

Have a great day!

Hmmm...I bet I'm judged and stereotyped all the time. Good thing I'm a strong enough person to almost completely not care. People are weak minded, is that a stereotype?
